NFL Week 15: Top Underdog Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Chicago Bears (+3) @ Cleveland Browns
The Bears have looked like a new team since Justin Fieldsâ return. Coming off a big win against the Lions (it should have been two against them in the past three weeks), they now have the task of going into Cleveland as underdogs yet again. Cleveland is also looking brand new with QB Joe Flacco under center, and it has brought new life to this team that still has playoff hopes.
However, the Browns are getting hit with brutal injury news every week it seems. Just this week, theyâve already lost OL Jedrick Willis and Dawned Jones to injured reserve (IR) in addition to S Grant Delpit. Add this to the list of starters to be knocked out for the season. At some point, a team of backups will slip up against opposing NFL teams, and I think this is the week it happens.
After a huge win against Jacksonville, plus all the injuries for the Browns, I have the Bears coming into Cleveland and sneaking away with a win.
Bet: Bears +3 (-105)
New York Giants (+5.5) @ New Orleans Saints
How about those New York Football Giants??? All of a sudden, the Giants are one game out of a playoff spot after a big 3-game win streak. Tommy DeVito is playing some good, turnover-free football, and thatâs what it takes to win in the NFL. They seem inspired and rejuvenated after a rough couple of months to start the season.
On the other hand, have you seen the Saints try to play offense in the past month? Iâm convinced Derek Carr is unable or isnât healthy enough to throw the ball further than 10 yards downfield. Carr averaged 4.6 yards per completion last week against Carolina, and he still threw an Interception. Not to mention, there was a clip of C Eric Mccoy yelling at Carr after a sack during the game. The Saints offense is struggling badly, and if Rashid Shaheed and Taysom Hill miss another game, it could be tough sledding for Carr and the offense yet again.
The Ravens may be a team of destiny this year, as they won last week in overtime in a dramatic fashion. They currently have the No. 1 seed in the AFC and can cement this even more with a win in Jacksonville on Sunday night. Thatâs three wins in a row and 7-1 in their past eight games. This team is built for January football. However, theyâll have a tough stretch of games upcoming, beginning with Sundayâs game in Jacksonville, followed by a trip to San Francisco before coming back home to play Miami. Iâm not sure they can afford to lose two of the next three games if they want the bye week.
On the other hand, the loss to the Browns in Week 14 really hurt the Jaguarsâ chances for the No. 1 seed. They now sit two games back but also have a pretty easy schedule after this Ravens game to make up some ground. Despite the upcoming schedule, this is a must-win if they want the No. 1 seed, as a loss would put them almost in wild card territory with the Colts and Texans on their heels for the division.
I believe they focus and fine-tune things after the bad loss and Trevor Lawrence will get healthier for this game. Look for the Jags to keep this one close at home; +3.5 would be great if you can get it.
Bet: Jaguars +3 (-108)
