NFL Week 17 Teaser Odds, Picks & Predictions (2023)
One popular way bettors try to find value on NFL lines is by playing teasers. An NFL teaser is similar to a parlay; you add multiple legs that must all win for the bet to pay out. The key difference from parlays is that a teaser allows you to buy points like 6, 6.5, or 7 in a direction that lowers risk.
Teaser Tips to Follow
- Never Cross over 0
- Tease through two key numbers, ideally 3 & 7.
- Tease games with lower totals, ideally anything 49 or less.
Below are three teaser options for Week 17 and my Best Bet.
Week 17 Teaser Options
Dallas Cowboys from -6 to PK vs. Detroit Lions
This line opened with the Cowboys as 5.5-point home favorites; as of Saturday morning, this line has gone up to six in most places, meaning the market is leaning toward Dallas.
Getting them down to a PK at home is excellent value. As we all know, the Cowboys have been one of the most explosive teams when playing at Jerry World. This should be a get-right spot for Dallas, as Detroit may come out a bit flat after clinching their first division title in over 30 years.
Miami Dolphins from +3.5 to +9.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Teasing Miami this week does not follow any of the guidelines listed above, but this may be an option if you are a contrarian bettor.
The Baltimore Ravens put on a clinic last week and demolished a team everyone thought was the best in the NFL, the 49ers. And due to public perception, the Ravens are the new No. 1 and will be all over them this week against the Dolphins.
This will be a battle between two No. 1s as the Dolphins have the top-ranked scoring offense while the Ravens have the top-ranked scoring defense.
While the Ravens may win this game, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and the offense should be able to keep pace with Baltimore and keep this with a 10-point game.
New Orleans Saints from +2.5 to +8.5 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Saints need a win here to keep their season alive. A win by the Buccaneers would clinch the NFC South and eliminate the Saints from playoff contention.
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs have been hot, winning four consecutive games and averaging 28.5 points per game. Of those four teams (Panthers, Packers, Falcons and Jaguars), only one (Atlanta) ranked inside the top-15 in defensive EPA/Play, and none in the top-10 in EPA/Play per dropback.
The Saints will be the best defense Baker has faced since Week 11.
