NFL Week 2 Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets: Sunday Night Football (2022)
Tonight we have a matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. Millions of dollars will get bet on this game. However, which touchdown prop bets should you bet? Let's take a look.
(Odds Courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Chicago Bears First TD Scorer: David Montgomery (RB â CHI) (+600)
Montgomery failed to find the end zone in Week 1, averaging only 1.5 yards per rushing attempt. However, he led the Bears in touchdowns in 2021 with seven. More importantly, the veteran running back either had a rushing attempt or target on six of the first seven plays last week against the San Francisco 49ers. While some are worried he could lose snaps to Khalil Herbert, Montgomery played 66% of the snaps compared to only 29% for Herbert last week. Meanwhile, the Packers gave up 14 touchdowns to running backs last year. After a poor Week 1, Montgomery will bounce back tonight.
Green Bay Packers First TD Scorer: Allen Lazard (WR â GB) (+750)
Last week the Green Bay passing attack was awful. Aaron Rodgers struggled to connect with his new younger wide receivers as a lack of trust was obvious. Thankfully, Lazard is on track to play tonight after missing Week 1 with an ankle injury. Last year he was second on the team in receiving touchdowns with eight, only finishing behind Davante Adams. However, with Adams no longer with the team, Lazard is Rodgers' top returning receiver from last season. More importantly, Lazard scored the first Green Bay touchdown in both games against the Bears in 2021. Lazard could see double-digit targets in this game, given Rodgersâ lack of trust in the younger receivers.
Anytime TD Scorer: Cole Kmet (TE - CHI) (+330)
Many have high hopes for Kmet this season. Unfortunately, the weather in the Week 1 matchup made for a rough day for Kmet. The third-year tight end failed to secure his only target in the game. However, he should bounce back tonight against the Packers. Over his past three matchups against the Packers, Kmet has averaged six targets and 4.7 receptions per game. More importantly, Kmet led the team in 14 targets inside the red zone last season. Meanwhile, the Packers gave up eight touchdowns to tight ends last season, the sixth-most in the NFL. At over 3-1 odds, Kmet is an excellent bet to score a touchdown.
Anytime TD Scorer: Aaron Jones (RB - GB) (-115)
After losing 23-7 to the Minnesota Vikings last week, head coach Matt LaFleur was disappointed Jones had only eight touches. So, Jones should have 17-22 touches in tonight's game. Last year Jones had only seven touches in the Week 1 loss. Then, he had 23 touches and four touchdowns the following week. More importantly, Jones scored three touchdowns in the two games against the Bears last year. Furthermore, he has scored at least one touchdown in four of the past five matchups against Chicago. Like Lazard, expect Rodgers to lean on the veterans he can trust as the Packers attempt to get their offense going. Jones to score twice tonight at +500 is also a solid bet.
