The 49ers victory on Monday night has predictably steamed this line up to San Fran -6.5, and this typically would be a welcome opportunity to back the struggling Panthers and take the points. However, the Panthers may be so bad that the bookmakers can never accurately gauge their floor, and it may not be possible to 'buy-low' on Carolina.

Only the Colts have graded out worse on offense than Carolina, and life won't get easier for QB Baker Mayfield with a ferocious 49ers pass-rush bearing down on him. Were the Panthers to cover the spread, it is likely that the team's defense held up their end of the bargain and that this is a low-scoring affair.
