Best NFL Week 5 Player Prop Bets: London Game

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Calvin Ridley Over 54.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

After exploding in Week 1 for 100+ yards and a TD, Calvin Ridley has been very quiet these past three weeks. He’s averaging less than three receptions and 37 yards with only one TD over that span, although he’s had 17 targets. This feels like more of a Jacksonville offense problem than Ridley’s fault, as they just have not been clicking like we expected going into this season. I’m sure there’s some rust from Ridley for taking a year off, and it may be taking some time to mesh with Trevor Lawrence in their first year together. Still, this Jaguars offense seems like it has to get going at some point.

Christian Kirk has been the beneficiary of Ridley’s low usage this season, and now Kirk’s yardage prop is actually higher than Ridley’s this week. Ridley is too talented to keep this pace up, and eventually, he’s going to be producing WR1 numbers again. 54.5 yards feels like an indictment on his usage lately, and I like jumping on this discounted number before Ridley explodes again. This is a great week for him to get back on track with the Bills having some injuries at CB. Also, the Jaguars should need to throw more than in previous games as they try to keep up with this Bills Offense.

A win this week against the Bills could change the trajectory of this season for the Jaguars, and Doug Pederson should be doing everything he can to get the ball in his best playmaker’s hands. Take Ridley over 54.5 receiving yards with confidence, as this is a perfect bounce-back spot for the dynamic receiver.

Jordan Poyer Over 5.5 Tackles + Assists (+120)

We cashed in our Jessie Bates defensive prop last week, and I have another one for this London matchup. This time, we’ll take Jordan Poyer at a lower number. Poyer cleared this number one time so far this year (he did not play last week), and it happened to be against the Jets in Week 1, which was basically the Bills’ only competitive game this season. Poyer was able to stack up seven tackles + assists despite the Jets only running 53 plays on offense, as Zach Wilson struggled to get into a rhythm. In Poyer’s other two games played, the opposing teams averaged 45 plays per game. Poyer was not on the field for all of those snaps in blowout wins.

I like the number here, which seems a little low due to the prior games and Poyer missing last week with an injury. Still, I see Poyer having his normal workload this week, playing over 90% of plays, which should equate to around 50-55 snaps.

Jacksonville will look to throw the ball a lot on Sunday, and Poyer should be near these receivers and Evan Engram on a lot of routes to help make tackles. He’ll also be in the mix for run support against the speedy Travis Etienne. Take Poyer over 5.5 tackles + assists, as I see him getting seven-eight here.

Trevor Lawrence Over 36.5 Pass Attempts (+105)

This prop is similar to our Ridley prop, as we expect the Jaguars to throw the ball a lot in this game - especially in the second half. Lawrence has cleared this number in both of the Jaguars’ losses, as he went for 40 and 41 attempts. In their two wins, he’s averaging 31 attempts. I have him throwing a few more passes than in the Falcons game last week, in which the Jaguars controlled most of the game and ran the ball 32 times. Even if they were to get an upset win here against the Bills, I still believe Lawrence will need to clear this number to get it done. I think the Jaguars sustain longer drives as they can take advantage of the injuries at cornerback for the Bills. Also, the Bills had to travel all the way to London, where they may be a little sluggish to start this game.

Take the over here, as I have Lawrence getting around 40 pass attempts in London on Sunday.
