NFL Week 5 Sleeper Picks

Season record: 6-9

Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ): OVER 4.5 receptions

Wilson has been set at just 4.5 receptions for Week 5. This is a confusing number, but is one that makes sense, considering that his quarterback is Zach Wilson. With that said, it appears that the Jets and Wilson are making a concerted effort to feed Wilson early and often. He saw 14 targets in Week 4, and it would be a surprise if he did not crack double digits again this week. Garrett has recorded five or more receptions in all but one game this season.

And then we have the opponent. Yes, it is a small sample, but the Denver Broncos defense, aside from Pat Surtain, is an embarrassment. Things got so bad that they released Randy Gregory just two years into a multi-year pact and with barely any games played. If there is any team  Zach Wilson can finally look like a number two overall pick against, it is the 2023 Week 1-4 version of the Denver Broncos. Garrett Wilson over is a play to consider for the majority of your Sleeper Picks this weekend.

Michael Wilson (WR – ARI): OVER 37.5 receiving yards

This was a surprising line, to say the least. Wilson is quickly emerging as one of Josh Dobbs’ go-to receivers and has impressed despite a limited workload outside of Week 4. Despite seeing more than three receptions just once all season, Wilson has recorded 56 or more receiving yards in three straight games. When we add his seven target Week 4 to a Bengals team that has struggled on both sides of the ball, we have the recipe for success. At the very least, 38 receiving yards worth. Tap the over on Wilson for Week 5 at Sleeper Picks.

Amari Cooper is averaging 81 receiving yards per game this season, topping 90 in each of his last two. The 37 receiving yards in the opener was a disappointment, but he has followed that up with outings of 90 and 116 receiving yards. He has seen 25 targets in his last two games and is among the top five in the NFL in air yards. He has a solid matchup this week against a Baltimore Ravens secondary that has allowed at least one 70 yard receiving day each week this season. The number on Cooper is going to continue to climb as the season progresses, so get the comfortable lines while you can. Tap over on Cooper for Week 4.

Jake Ferguson (TE – DAL): OVER 3.5 receptions

Ferguson has impressed as far as targets are concerned this season. Dak Prescott predicted that Ferguson would have a big season, and he seems to be doing his best to make that happen. He has stepped into the vacated Dalton Schultz role and, as such, has seen seven targets in three of his four games this season. He has averaged six receptions over his last two games, with five in Week 3 and seven in Week 4, and is someone Dak is more than likely going to need to lean on against the San Francisco 49ers defense. 2.5 would be much more comfortable, but recent trends and projected gamescript should help get Ferguson to at least four receptions. Tap the over for Week 5.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
