NFL Week 6 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2023)

Doesn’t it seem like the 2023 NFL regular season just started? Shockingly, we’re on to Week 6 already, which is 33% through the 18-week slate. The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers are off on bye weeks, while the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans are overseas for the NFL’s third consecutive London game.

There will be eight total games played outdoors, and weather will be a factor, particularly in the Midwest. As we get into October, we start to get plenty of storm systems sweeping across the northern regions, kicking up showers and plenty of wind, although we’re not quite to the point where frozen precipitation is a factor. Still, expect plenty of slick surfaces on Sunday.

Let’s look at the Week 6 weather report.

NFL Week 6 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2023)

(All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com)

Baltimore Ravens (-4.5) at Tennessee Titans, Total 41.5

Forecast: 50 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 7-9 MPH

We get another Sunday morning game to watch on TV in the States, as the United Kingdom hosts an international game for the third consecutive weekend. The weather will be a little on the cool side, but no pea soup like London is famous for.

Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons (-2.5), Total 42.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Falcons are at home inside for the second consecutive weekend, while the Commanders are out of the elements for the first time in six games this season.

Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Chicago Bears, Total 44

Forecast: 52 degrees, 40% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 16-19 mph

The precipitation is expected to let up around the first quarter or so. We’ll get an early slick surface and, all through the game, we might see gusts up to 25 mph potentially affecting the passing game and kicking game.

San Francisco 49ers (-9.5) at Cleveland Browns, Total 35.5

Forecast: 54 degrees, 40% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 14-17 mph

The rain chances go from 40% at kickoff to around 50% by the end of the game. There will also be a steady gale blowing off of Lake Erie with gusts up to 25 or 30 mph. As a result, we should see a lot more from the run game on both sides.

Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5), Total 45.5

Forecast: 56 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 9-11 MPH

The weather will be on the cool side, with a lot of cloud cover. That should make the Seahawks feel like it’s a home game at Lumen Field. There isn’t much of a concern with precipitation.

Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins (-14), Total 47.5

Forecast: 86 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 7-10 MPH

While summer fades into autumn, and the temperatures start to fall like the leaves most everywhere else, South Florida remains boiling hot with very little cool air to speak of. At least it won’t be stormy.

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars (-4.5), Total 44.5

Forecast: 72 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 11-13 MPH

The temperatures will feel pretty comfortable in Duval County on Sunday. There will be a slight breeze which could potentially hinder the passing and kicking games, but it should be mostly fine.

New Orleans Saints (-1.5) at Houston Texans, Total 42.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Saints and Texans do battle at NRG Stadium for Gulf Coast bragging rights, and they’ll do it inside, away from the heat and humidity of Southeast Texas.

New England Patriots at Las Vegas Raiders (-2.5), Total 41.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

It’s a rather weird situation, but legendary head coach Bill Belichick is reportedly dealing with a hot seat these days. Other than that, the conditions inside he dome in Sin City will be rather favorable.

Detroit Lions (-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Total 42.5

Forecast: 79 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 11-13 MPH

It will be a Chamber of Commerce day in the Tampa area for the Lions and Bucs. QBs Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield might have a slight breeze to deal with, but nothing too terrible.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams (-7), Total 48.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The banged-up Cardinals invade SoFi Stadium for this NFC West divisional battle under controlled conditions.

Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) at New York Jets, Total 41

Forecast: 59 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 9-12 MPH

The Eagles head up the New Jersey Turnpike (OK, they still probably flew) to battle the Jets in the late window Sunday. There is no wet weather, but a slight breeze could affect things.

New York Giants at Buffalo Bills (-15.5), Total 43.5

Forecast: 46 degrees, 35% chance of precipitation

Wind speed: 5-8 MPH

The temperatures will be on the cool side, and while it won’t be driving rain, it will be a bit damp with a cool breeze as QB Tyrod Taylor leads the G-Men against one of his former teams.

Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Los Angeles Chargers, Total 50.5

Forecast: Indoors

Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.

The Cowboys have to still be licking their wounds after getting crushed by the 49ers in a primetime game last week in Santa Clara. They’re back in the Golden State under the lights but under a roof this time.
