NFL Week 8 Line Movement

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Buffalo Bills

Spread

  • Open: Bills -7.5 (-108)
  • Current: Bills -8.5 (-108)

Both teams are coming off a Week 7 loss. Buffalo was upset in New England 25-29, while the Bucs lost to the Atlanta Falcons 13-16 courtesy of a Younghoe Koo game-winning field goal.

Bills fans won’t have to wait long to get rid of the sour taste of defeat as they play host to the Buccaneers on “Thursday Night Football.”

After opening up as a 7.5-point home favorite, bettors expect a big bounce-back game from Josh Allen and the Bills, as the line has moved to 8.5.

Houston Texans @ Carolina Panthers

Total

Both teams are coming off a bye, with the Texans as a 3.0-point road favorite. It is just the fourth time Houston has been a favorite on the road since 2019.

The line has mostly stayed the same since it opened. At one point Tuesday morning, it dropped to 2.5 but immediately jumped back to 3.0.

On the other hand, the total has moved two points since it opened earlier this week. The total opened as low as 41.5; by Monday night, it jumped to 43.5.

Los Angeles Rams @ Dallas Cowboys

Spread

  • Open: Cowboys -5.5 (-112)
  • Current: Cowboys -6.0 (-112)

After beating one LA team in Week 6, Dallas had its bye week in Week 7 before playing the other LA team in Week 8.

This line opened with the Cowboys laying 5.5 points before money came in and pushed this line up to 6.0.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins

Spread

  • Open: Dolphins -11.5 (-112)
  • Current: Dolphins -9.5 (-112)

This line movement is an overreaction and a prime example of recency bias.

The look-ahead line at DraftKings Sportsbook before the Week 7 games had the Dolphins as 13.0-point home favorites. By Sunday evening, this line officially reopened with Miami as 11.5-point home favorites.

After New England’s upset win against Buffalo and Miami’s loss in primetime, the line dropped to 9.5.

Atlanta Falcons @ Tennessee Titans

Spread

  • Open: Falcons -1.0 (-108)
  • Current: Falcons -2.5 (-108)

The look-ahead line had the Titans as a 1.0-point home favorite. DraftKings Sportsbook officially reopened the line with the Falcons as a 1.0-point road favorite.

News coming out that Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill could miss this game and Malik Willis will be under center could be the cause of all the money on Atlanta, now pushing this line up to 2.5.
