NFL Week 9 Early Odds, Picks & Predictions

Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Commanders

The Minnesota Vikings have been a quiet 5-1 team. The NFC East is getting a lot of love. But the Vikings? People already forget they’re 5-1 and lead the NFC North by multiple games.

Minnesota will take on the Arizona Cardinals, at home, on Sunday, as -3.5-point favorites. This isn’t going to be an easy game for the Vikings, but a win would prove that Minnesota is seriously a contending team.

Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders will face the Indianapolis Colts as 2.5-point underdogs. Sam Ehlinger is starting for the Colts this week. If the Colts earn a win with Ehlinger under center, the line for the Vikings/Commanders game will shift more in favor of the Vikings.

Bet: Vikings -2.5 (-110)

New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts

We’ll use that same Colts game to get some closing line value on this Week 9 matchup. If Ehlinger looks good under center for the Colts and helps Indianapolis grab a win over Washington, the Colts will have some buzz.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are coming off a brutal loss to Chicago and will now face a 5-2 New York Jets team that continues to fight. The Patriots have a quarterback controversy. Mac Jones looks to be the starting quarterback for the Patriots. But he’s statistically been worse than Bailey Zappe.

Why not grab the Colts at +6.5 against the Patriots? When looking at the rosters, the Colts might have more talent than the Patriots.

Bet: Colts +6.5 (-110)

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions

The Packers desperately need to make a move at wide receiver before Week 9. Let’s be honest. Green Bay is below .500, while Aaron Rodgers is getting fed up that none of his receivers can catch passes consistently.

The Lions are already underdogs against the Dolphins this Sunday. Meanwhile, the Packers have a bye week to prepare for this game and reset.

I know Detroit should have D’Andre Swift back. He’ll help the offense in a big way. But Green Bay’s defense seriously hasn’t been that bad this season. Once the offense gets clicking, Green Bay will be a tough out.

Take the Packers at -3.5 and watch them rise up a couple of points by the end of next week. This is especially true if the Packers make a deadline move to help their receiving core. Detroit’s defense has been so bad throughout the season, especially in the secondary.

Bet: Packers -3.5 (-110)
