NHL All-Star Game Best Bets: Atlantic vs. Metropolitan

The Atlantic is coming in as the slight favorite to win the entire tournament. It's hard not to have them winning the entire thing with this exceptional roster.
Even with Tage Thompson not playing, they still have a stellar forward unit. David Pastrnak headlines the playmakers on this roster as he comes in with the leagueâs second-best 38 goals. Pastrank has the potential to get plenty of opportunities to get clean shots with linemates Nikita Kucherov, Rasmus Dahlin, and Matthew Tkachuk, who all come in with 40 or more assists.
Another advantage the Atlantic Division has over the Metro is experience. Only one player was selected for their first All-Star game, compared to six on the other side.
The one player? Only the Vezina Trophy favorite, Linus Ullmark. The Bruins goalie has been better than everyone else at his position by leading in every major category this season. Don't worry, though; he'll have Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is still one of the most talented goalies in the world.
The Metro does have a ton of talent on the roster, headlined by veterans Sidney Crosby, Johnny Gaudreau, and Alex Ovechkin. The question will be how will the younger skaters complement the veterans and whether they can contribute when they get their ice time.
They're also inexperienced behind the net. Igor Shesterkin and Ilya Sorokin will trade off behind the net, and both of these New York goalies are first-time all-stars.
The overall experience of the Atlantic, the better compliment of line combinations, and the advantage at goaltender will push them to a first-round win.
Pick: Atlantic (-128)
