New York Islanders (-154) vs. Washington Capitals (+128) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)
The Islandersâ final two games are important as they hold just a one-point lead in the final playoff spot. The offense has improved recently by scoring five goals in their last two games. Brock Nelson has pushed through his recent funk and has five points in those games. Bo Horvat has four. While the offense is improving, the goaltending remains superb, and Ilya Sorokin has a .943 save percentage and one shutout in his last five games.
The Capitals are struggling down the stretch, going 1-7-2 as their season wraps up. They've dealt with injuries all season, and it looks like T.J. Oshie, Anthony Mantha, and Trevor van Riemsdyk will be out for another game. Many of their longtime players don't understand this current situation because you could always pencil them in for a playoff spot.
Is this an offensive showing from the Islanders sustainable? They better hope so if they want to make a deep playoff run. The Capitals look like they've packed in their season, and this shell of a lineup isn't beating anyone at this point.
Pick: Islanders 60 min moneyline (+100)
Dallas Stars (-184) vs. Detroit Red Wings (+152) | O/U 6.5 (+112/-138)
The Stars' playoff seeding will likely come down to the end. Colorado won on Sunday, putting Dallas two points behind with just three games left. Their top forwards have been playing well during their recent three-game winning streak, with Joe Pavelski having five points and Jason Robertson having six. The defense has stepped up, and they've allowed just 24 shots per game in the last three and three total goals.
The Red Wings are eliminated from playoff contention, but they are trying to end their season on a high note. They're on a nice run, winning four of their last seven, including over Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Toronto. Dylan Larkin and David Perron have been the two bright spots in a dim offense, and they've propelled this offense lately, with Larkin scoring six goals and Perron scoring seven in their last ten games.
Perron and Larkin alone can't provide all of the offense, especially with how the Dallas blue line has played their last few games, and Jake Oettinger is still one of the best goalies in the league. The Stars will handle business in a must-win game against an inferior opponent.
Pick: Stars 60 min moneyline (-120)
Buffalo Sabres (+152) vs. New York Rangers (-184) | O/U 6.5 (-122/+100)
Even if the Sabres don't make the playoffs, it's still a significant improvement from last season. We know this is one of the best offenses in the league, but the goaltending had been a constant problem, but they might have solved it. Devon Levi signed his entry-level contract after two years at Northeastern and has immediately made an impact by going 3-1-0 with 2.0 goals saved above expected.
New York has been the best team in the league recently, and they have a shot at winning the Metro. Since March 9, they have a league-best 27 points and have gone 12-2-3. The offense has stepped up their game, but they still want to beat you with their defense. Igor Shesterkin is the epitome of consistency, allowing just 1.88 goals in his last seven and saving 32-of-33 in his previous matchup against the Sabres.
Both matchups have been close in this seasonâs series. The Blue Shirts have done well neutralizing the talented Buffalo offense, and both games have hit the under. Levi could be the real deal, and the Rangers aren't dangerous enough to expose any weaknesses for the 21-year-old rookie.
Pick: Under 6.5 (+100)
