Top 3 NHL Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (1/2)

Pittsburgh Penguins (+146) vs. Boston Bruins (-178) | o/u 6.5 (+104/-128)

The Penguins are a very streaky team and are, unfortunately, on the wrong side as they enter the Winter Classic with a four-game losing streak. They’ve had some injuries on the blue line, with Jeff Petry and Kris Letang possibly out for this game. but they have strong enough forwards to make up for it.

It is hard to find a weak point on this Bruins roster. The offensive unit is near the top, and they arguably have the best blue line in the league, and we know Linus Ullmark is currently the best goalkeeper. The Bruins are overall better than the Penguins, and the possible lack of defensive depth for Pittsburgh will play a factor.

Pick: Bruins 60-minute ML (-178)

Vegas Golden Knights (+138) vs. Colorado Avalanche (-166) | o/u 6 (-118/-104)

The Golden Knights are not playing with that same dominance from earlier in the season. A big reason is that they are missing several players from both the blue line and forward unit.

This also goes for the defending champion Avalanche. They saw Nathan McKinnon back on the ice after an 11-game absence. However, they are missing Gabriel Landeskog and Darren Helm up front, Josh Manson and Bowen Byram on the blue line and Pavel Francouz behind the net.

Even with the injuries, Vegas has looked solid and have been able to grind out some wins. The Avs, on the other hand, have given significant minutes to their top players, and they’ve looked sluggish. The Golden Knights will grab this road win.

Pick: Golden Knights ML (+138)

Philadelphia Flyers (-118) vs. Anaheim Ducks (-102) | o/u 6.5 (-105/-118)

The Flyers have some young and upcoming talent but are not ready to compete as the offense is one of the worst, both on even strength and special teams. The lone bright spot this season that should be making his return is Carter Hart, with +12.8 goals saved above expected.

The Ducks have completely underachieved this season. They have a very talented top line, but it’s just not clicking, as they’re on the bottom on both sides of the puck. Neither team is good, but the Ducks have been atrocious this year.  Especially with Hart in the crease, he will hold down the Ducks’ offense to grab a win.

Pick: Flyer ML (-118)
