Today’s Best NHL GIFT Picks

Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes

The Canes currently have the second most points in the league, and when you look at the stats this roster has put up, you’ll understand why.

They have better depth than most teams in the league. They’re not like others who rely on a couple of playmakers; even the deeper lines contribute, with 13 players having over 20 points.

The injuries have begun to impact the Capitals deeply. They’ve struggled the last two months and, as a result, are currently out of the playoffs.

Both teams are near the bottom in GIFT, and each are under .500. I’m expecting a low-scoring game in general, so grabbing the under on the plus money line is a great value.

Pick: Under 0.5 Goals (+115)

Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues

The trend of the Blues being a streaky continues. They recently had a five-game losing streak averaging two goals, and now, they’re on a three-game winning streak averaging 5.33 goals.

Goalie Jordan Binnington is the biggest culprit on the team. After allowing three or more goals in four straight games, he’s allowed a combined four goals in the last two.

The defending Stanley Cup are in position where they might not even make the playoffs. At 63 points, they’re tied with Minnesota for third place, and that would have them only two points ahead for the last Wild Card spot.

They are missing some of their best players, with Cal Makar possibly possibly out for this game, goalie Pavel Francouz will miss time, and Gabriel Landeskog has yet to play this season.

I like how the St. Louis offense has been playing recently, and they could break this game open, but also, the Avs have scored under ten minutes in two of the last three games Alexandar Georgiev has been between the pipes.

Pick: Over 0.5 Goals (-160)

New York Rangers vs. Calgary Flames

The Rangers have won seven straight as they continue to climb up the Metro standings.

The offense has been incredible during this run by scoring an eye-popping 5.14 goals per game. Artemi Panarin is on hot streak at the moment by scoring six goals in his last five games.

The Flames decided to break up and rebuild last year’s offense, and it has not gone the way they hoped. Some of the moves have been a huge disappoint, ment including Jonathan Huberdeau, who has just 10 goals in 51 games this year.

Overall Calgary is scoring less than last year and is currently out of the playoffs.

The Flames have one of the better GIFT rates, and the Rangers have one of the worst, so which side will give in? This will be a go against the grain pick, but I like the scoring to come much later in this game. Rangers still have a great defense and backup goal Jaroslav Halak has been incredible recently, including a win over these Flames.

Pick: Under 0.5 Goals (+140)
