NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Blues vs. Avalanche (Monday)

This Monday has an exciting slate of games, with a couple of teams playing well recently. We also have a matchup with some struggling teams that would love to come away with two points. Here are my top picks of Monday’s NHL slate. And here’s a closer look at Blues vs. Avalanche.

NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Blues vs. Avalanche

St. Louis Blues (+162) vs. Colorado Avalanche (-196) | o/u 6.5 (-118/-104)

The reigning champions got off to a slow start but are coming into this game winning four straight. The offense was struggling initially, but the big guns are getting it going, including Mikko Rantanen, who has eight goals in his last four games. You have to give credit to Alexandar Georgiev behind the net, who’s 7-1-1 and 5.4 goals saved above expected.

The Blues were poised for another run in the playoff, but they had to make up some ground after losing eight straight.  A big reason could be the injuries, as they were missing forwards Pavel Buchnevich and Brandon Saad, and defensemen Marco Scandella and Scott Perunovich are still out of the lineup.

The Blues are quietly improving, and you shouldn’t look at this game purely on records. They just pulled off a win against Vegas, and it could be a great chance to catch the Avs sleeping. I like the Blues getting the upset.

Pick: Blues ML
