Saturday's Best NHL Picks

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Buffalo Sabres (+126) at New Jersey Devils (-152) | O/U 6.5 (-110/-110)

The Devils had one of the most exciting teams last year, but the problem was that they never got to see it because they never had a healthy roster. Some of their best forwards, like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Timo Meier, missed time. It shows how front-loaded they are because those guys finished in the top four on the team in points.

New Jersey also had issues with its goalie. They are relying on former Flames netminder Jacob Markstrom to bring consistency.

This team has many of its best players returning and has playoff experience. As long as it has this lineup for the season, it is a championship contender.

Buffalo is on the verge of being an excellent team; they just need to put it all together. Two seasons ago this offense was great but had no defense; last year was the reverse.

They have goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen coming off a breakout season. Their top line featuring Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch can be dangerous. This can be the year they put it together and make a run.

Friday saw the Devils’ offense go to work while the Sabres could only score a late, meaningless goal. Both teams will have their backup goalies in, so we should see both sides light the lamp.

Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-110)
