Monday's NHL Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New York Rangers (+164) at Florida Panthers (-198) | O/U 6 (-110/-110)
We will take about two teams who are on a little bit of a slide.
The Panthers have a tiny losing streak as they've lost back-to-back games. The most alarming part is that they haven't lit the lamp in either game, one of which was against the Canadiens, who allow 3.59 goals per game. We could just chalk it up to bad luck; they had over 30 shots in each game and had gone over 50% in expected goal share.
The Rangers, on the other hand, have been dreadful over the last few weeks. In their previous 18 games, they've generated eight points (4-14-0), have averaged 2.05 goals scored and 3.72 goals allowed. This was a team that won the Presidentâs Trophy last year and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Happy birthday to Igor Shesterkin, who is coming off recently being pulled from the game against Tampa Bay, where he allowed five goals. Florida goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky has been a little inconsistent this year, but he should be able to handle the Blue Shirts, who cannot generate any offense.
Pick: Panthers 60-Minute Moneyline (-135)
Nashville Predators (+136) at Winnipeg Jets (-162) | O/U 6 (-120/+100)
The Jets cooled down a bit from that 17-3-0 start, but this team still looks like they compete for a championship. They are coming in, winning five of their last six. A couple were against bad teams like the Sharks and Canadians, but there are wins against the Wild and Maple Leafs in Toronto.
You knew this defense would be great, but we keep getting excellent performances from the offense, and in each of their last six wins, they have scored four or more goals.
The Predators could never imagine getting that type of offense consistently. Some recent games have been better, and they have scored 12 goals in their last three games, but they are still 31st in goals scored per game.
The defense hasn't been much better. They are 22nd in shots allowed, and you wonder how great Juuse Saros would be if he had any support.
Pick: Jets 60-Minute Moneyline (-110)
