This Monday has an exciting slate of games with a couple of teams that have been playing well recently. We also have a matchup with some struggling teams that would love to come away with two points.

Calgary Flames (-122) vs. New York Islanders (+102) | o/u 6 (-112/-108)
The Flames are starting to burn out as they come into this game with a four-game losing streak. The offense has been contributing, but the defense has been vulnerable and allowed four or more goals in the last three games. Some of this lack of production could be partly due to the injuries, but the defensive unit is still underperforming.
The Islanders are coming into this game playing well, winning four of their last five against some top teams like the Hurricanes, Rangers, and the defending champions Avalanche. It will be interesting to see who will be behind the net for New York. We could see Semyon Varlamov getting the start tonight to save Ilya Sorokin on Tuesday against the Rangers.
Either way, I like the Islanders attacking Calgary in their zone, no matter who is at goalie, holding them down enough to come away with a win.
Pick: Islanders ML (+102)
St. Louis Blues (+168) vs. Boston Bruins (-205) | o/u 6.5 (-106/-114)
The Blues needed a few days off. Theyâre coming into today with a four-game losing streak, and Jordan Binningtonâs inconsistencies are prevalent this season. The good news is that this team is starting to get healthy, and we should see Brandon Saad make his season debut tonight.
This is still a very tough challenge to take on a Bruins team that leads the league in goals scored and is fourth in goals allowed. You canât find a unit that has been better attacking the defensive zone, and theyâre getting contributions throughout their lines.
The Bruins are legit, and while the Blues are getting back players, theyâre still facing Linus Ullmark, and I donât trust Binnington to keep STL in this game.
Pick: Bruins -1.5 (+130)
Edmonton Oilers (+168) vs. Washington Capitals (-205) | o/u 6.5 (-106/-114)
The Capitals are coming into tonight with a three-game skid. Except for Alex Ovechkin, their staple of offensive producers arenât playing well, and with the injuries, itâs been tough to produce on offense. Luckily they have some talented guys on the blue line, like Nick Jensen and Dmitry Orlov, who have a combined 1.9 defensive shares and 38 blocked shots to keep them close.
The Oilersâ offense has also struggled this year, except for Connor McDavid, who leads the league with 12 goals. Theyâre going into a place where they havenât been successful and lost four of the last five games in Washington, D.C.
While this is a talented offense, theyâve struggled against some of the more formidable defenses in the league, including New Jersey and Dallas. We should see another slow offensive night for them.
Pick: Capitals ML (-205)
