Top 3 NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Saturday (11/5)

This Saturday has an exciting slate of games with a couple of teams that have been playing well recently. Some of these teams are also coming in hot on offense, which will play a factor, as well as a plus money lines.

Colorado Avalanche (-250) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (+202) | o/u 6.5 (-128/+104)

The Avalanche and Blue Jackets will continue their series in Finland.

The Avs took a big lead early in the game on Friday, let it slip midway, but pushed late and were able to win big. With Valeri Nichushkin out, it was Mikko Rantanen moving up to the first line and coming through in a big way with a hat trick, including two goals in the third period.

The Columbus goaltending has been dreadful this year and is 30th in goals allowed per game and 28th in expected goal differential.

Colorado doesn’t need their top goal scorer against a below-average defense, and they showed their depth in the first game of this series, and it’ll be there again.

Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (-110)

Boston Bruins (+106) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (-128) | o/u 6.5 (-134/+110)

The Bruins are making a case as the top team early on. They’re one of the more balanced teams in the league, as they’re top four in both offense and defense.

They get a Toronto team that has lost four of their five games but is coming off their first five-goal performance since the third game of the season. This was against Philadelphia’s second goaltender, not Carter Hart, who’s having an incredible season.

The Bruins have an incredible depth, and the return of Brad Marchand makes them that much better. As much talent the Leads have on the attack, I’m not trusting them against goaltending till they show me something. Grabbing the plus moneyline is a great value.

Pick: Bruins ML

Las Vegas Golden Knights (-205) vs. Montreal Canadiens (+176) | o/u 6.5 (-105/-115)

The Golden Knights earned their sixth straight win the hard way. They coasted to a 5-1 lead against Ottawa before they let almost let it slip away as the Senators scored three unanswered goals. Logan Thompson has been great all year, and some of those goals weren’t really on him; one was due to a breakdown by the defensemen, and the other was a center ice shot that took a weird bounce over his glove.

Today they’ll see a Montreal team struggling to get contributions outside their top line. The moneyline isn’t good enough, and I wouldn’t say I like the puck line, but I like these teams to keep the scoring low.

Pick: Under 6.5
