Top 3 NHL Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (11/6)

This Sunday has an exciting slate of games with a couple of teams that have been playing well recently. We also have a matchup with some struggling teams that would love to come away with two points.

Detroit Red Wings (+198) vs. New York Rangers (-245) | o/u 6.5 (-120/+102)

The Red Wings are coming into today playing well, with wins in three of the last four games. The offense is heavy-loaded on their top lines, with Dylan Larkin, David Perron, and Dominik Kubalik having 16 goals between them. The defense had struggled to start the season, but they’ve shown signs of life, allowing just two goals in those three wins.

The opposite can be said for the Rangers, as the defense has been strong all year, especially on the top blue line, with Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba combining for 49 blocked shots and 1.5 defensive point shares. The offense is still searching for their spark, but they did get six goals against an excellent Dallas defense, so it could be coming.

I like the Rangers grabbing the win on home ice. Their blue line should hold Detroit in check, and I think they get enough out of their offense to pull it off. No value in their moneyline and no trust in the puck line, so grab Detroit getting a goal.

Pick: Red Wings +1.5 (-115)

Toronto Maple Leafs (+136) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (-164) | o/u 6.5 (-105/-115)

Yesterday the Maple Leafs were able to hold the best offensive team in the league to just one goal in the 2-1 win against the Bruins. The offense is still not clicking, which is a significant concern. John Tavares is playing well, and Auston Matthews is starting to roll, but their other offensive staples haven’t come through yet.

The Hurricanes are storming through the schedule as they head into this matchup with a four-game winning streak. The offense has been playing very well, with 16 goals in those four wins.

The Canes are coming rested against the Leafs in back-to-back in a very physical battle against Boston. I like Carolina getting to win No. 5 with the plus moneyline.

Pick: Hurricanes ML (-164)

Florida Panthers (-220) vs. Anaheim Ducks (+180) | o/u 6.5 (-138/+112)

The Panthers are coming off the short-end back-and-forth battle against the Kings with a 5-4 loss. Florida has had trouble getting into a rhythm and hasn’t won back-to-back games since the first two of the season.

After suffering a seven-game losing streak, Anaheim has won three of four —two of those are the struggling Sharks, but they were able to grab one against the Maple Leafs. The offense has been playing well in that span scoring 20 goals, but they’re not getting any help from the defense, who have also allowed 20.

With Florida struggling and playing five of the previous six games on the road, the Ducks could steal another win at home. I’m not confident to put a big wager on that, but only having this at 6.5, even with both teams on a back-to-back, I’m grabbing the over.

Pick: Over 6.5 total goals (-138)
