NHL Picks & Predictions: Hurricanes vs. Panthers (Wednesday)
Let’s settle in for a couple of exciting matchups on the ice tonight as the Hurricanes take on the Panthers in Florida and the Penguins go toe-to-toe with the Capitals in the nation’s capital.
Hockey’s four-game slate continues with the Canucks squaring off against the Canadiens and the Ducks hosting the Wild to end the night. Here are my top two bets in the NHL tonight. And let’s take a closer look at Hurricanes vs. Panthers.

NHL Picks & Predictions: Hurricanes vs. Panthers
The Hurricanes make the quick trip down to Sunrise, where they’ll battle the Panthers for two points tonight. This Eastern Conference clash is at 7:00 p.m. ET from FLA Live Arena.
Antti Raanta is expected to be in net for the Canes tonight, and he’s the main reason I’ll be backing Carolina on the moneyline in this game. The Finnish netminder is off to a hot start as he’s 3-0-1 with a 2.42 GAA (12th) and .905 SV% (27th). The Hurricanes pride themselves on having a strong defensive presence, which holds true statistically, as they allow just 2.67 goals per game as a team (10th).
On the flip side, Florida has been average both offensively and defensively this season. The Panthers come into tonight’s game with the 16th-ranked offense (3.2 gpg) and 18th-best defense (3.00 opposing gpg). They’ve also struggled on special teams, as they’re cashing in on just 12.96% of power plays (30th) and killing 73.47% of opposing penalties (25th). The Canes are playing much more structured hockey now, and I believe they have the more skilled roster. Let’s ride with Carolina on the road tonight.
