NHL Playoffs Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Monday (5/1)

One more final first-round series will conclude tonight. The momentum has swung like a pendulum throughout this series, resulting in a winner-take-all Game 7. Both Game 7s yesterday were exciting, and this one could have that same fate.

New York Rangers (-104) at New Jersey Devils (-113) | O/U 5.5 (+108/-122)

After suffering a three-game losing streak during the series, the Rangers came through at The Garden to force a Game 7.

In those three games, their offense was non-existent, scoring just two goals while scoring ten in the first two games. Some of their prominent players that had been struggling during the losing streak came through in Game 6 – Chris Kreider broke his two-game goalless streak, Adam Fox had two assists, and Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist.

These guys need to carry over their performances into tonight if they want any chance to win.

As the Rangers’ stars faded in the middle of the series, the Devils shined. Jack Hughes and Erik Haula have three goals, and Nico Hischier has an assist in four straight. The offense was still able to create opportunities in Game 6, but Igor Shesterkin came through by saving 34-of-36 shots.

The most important question is, who will be in the crease for New Jersey? Vitek Vanecek struggled in the first two games, so they went with Akira Schmid, who thrived in Games 3-5 before being shelved at the end of Game 6.

This matchup has many different factors, and it can go either way.  We saw two Game 7s go down to the wire yesterday, and we should expect the same thing tonight.

Pick : Under 5.5 Goals (-122)
