NHL Playoffs Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (4/30)

The two best words in sports are “Game 7.”

Both home teams losing would change the whole landscape of the playoffs. One of them is the defending champion, and the other had the greatest regular season of all time. Let’s see if we’ll get some upsets.

Sunday's Best NHL Bets

Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook

Florida Panthers (+188) at Boston Bruins (-230) | O/U 6.5 (+104/-128)

We have a winner-take-all that we didn't expect. We've seen Presidents Trophy winners fail in the playoff. In fact, we haven't seen the team with the most points hoist the Stanley Cup since 2013. This would be a whole different level of choking. This was the team that finished with the most wins and points ever in a season.

What has happened to Linus Ullmark? He's a sure lock for the Vezina Trophy, but he's faded in the playoffs with a 3.33 GAA. The offense has done its job with 53.77 expected goals, but Florida isn't far behind at 53.64.

A big reason for Florida's comeback has been their big off-season acquisition and regular-season points leader Matthew Tkachuk who has seven points (4G 3A) in the last three games.

This will be a game each offense will have to best game, and this will be another offensive explosion.

Pick: Over 6.5 (+104)

Seattle Kraken (+176) at Colorado Avalanche (-215) | O/U 5.5 (-130/+106)

The Avalanche had the first dominant win by scoring four unanswered goals to force Game 7.

Mikko Rantanen continues to influence this series significantly and had a goal and assist in that win, now giving him nine points (6G 3A). Seattle won't stop him, so they just need to hope he won't influence this game too much.

Colorado will likely not have Andrew Cogliano in the lineup, but who’s missing for the Kraken is more significant. Andre Burowsky was already expected to miss this series, but their offense won't have goals leader James McCann for his important game, but luckily they have a deep lineup with eight guys scoring 40 or more points.

Each team has had good and bad performances. Colorado looked different than either team has in any other game. They stepped up on both ends when their back was against the wall, down 1-0 in an elimination game. At home, I'm taking the champs.

Pick: Avalanche 60 Min Moneyline (-145)
