NHL Playoffs Same-Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Monday (May 8)

After a trio of games Sunday, the NHL playoffs continue with just one matchup for Monday night. Here are my same-game parlay picks for tonight’s Edmonton-Vegas Game 3.

Vegas Golden Knights (+150) at Edmonton Oilers (-175) | Total 7

    • Leg 1: Vegas +150
    • Leg 2: Over 6.5 goals
    • Leg 3: Leon Draisaitl anytime goalscorer
    • Leg 4: Jonathan Marchessault anytime goalscorer
    • Odds: +900

Game 2 was arguably one of the weirdest games of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs. Vegas committed the fatal flaw of living in the penalty box, and Edmonton exploited them, going 3-for-6 on the man advantage in the 5-1 victory. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights went 0-for-3 on the power play.

So was Edmonton’s victory an outlier or a sign of things to come? I tend to lean more toward the former. While it’s tough to predict penalties, the Golden Knights still owned a very small advantage in expected goals at 5-on-5, winning by a 1.69-1.58 margin.

It won’t be easy on the road, but I’d expect Vegas to play a much more disciplined game. And if the Golden Knights can stay out of the sin bin, then they’ll have the advantage in depth at both forward and defense. At +150, I see some significant value on Vegas.
