NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (5/3)

Another set of playoff second-round matchups begin tonight. One series has two teams that look like it could be an interesting battle between two well-balanced rosters. The other has a lot of scoring power, and we could see each team light the lamp quite a bit in this series.

New Jersey Devils at Carolina Hurricanes

  • Leg 1: UNDER 1.5 Total First Period Goals (-120)
  • Leg 2: UNDER 5.5 Total Goals (-135)
  • Leg 3: Jack Hughes Anytime Goal (+125)

The Devils pulled off four wins in the last five games after going down 0-2 in the series against the Rangers.

Their offensive stars all contributed, with Nico Heisher and Jack Hughes each having an assist, and Jesper Bratt sealed the game with an empty netter.

We wondered who would be in the crease for this pivotal game, and they stayed with the rookie Akira Schmid after pulling him in Game 6. It was the smart move, as he would save all 31 shots for his second shutout of the playoffs.

The Rangers have some good skaters, but very few teams are as deep on offense and balanced on defense as the Hurricanes. This team can stop you in a low-scoring game or out-shoot you in an offensive affair, and that’s why they finished with the best-expected goal difference in the league.

Carolina will not divulge who is between the pipes for them in Game 1. Antti Raanta started the first five games, but Frederick Andersen started Game 6. Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour says they could go with both.

These divisional rivals split the regular season series, and there were a couple of high and low-scoring games.

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights

  • Leg 1: OVER 1.5 Total First Period Goals (-160)
  • Leg 2: OVER 6.5 Total Goals (-115)
  • Leg 3: Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal (-115)

The Oilers had a very exciting series with the Kings and were able to grab that series in six games. The amount of scoring options this team has makes it challenging for any defense. Connor McDavid had one of the best seasons in recent history with 64 goals, but he was more of a facilitator in that series with seven assists. Leon Draisaitl was the playmaker for Edmonton, racking up seven goals.

They’ll likely stick with rookie Stuart Skinner between the pipes, who did not have the best series by allowing 3.43 goals per game and could have become the most hated man in Alberta with that broken stick pass that ended up being a Kings goal to tie the game.

The Golden Knights will likely continue with Laurent Brossoit at goalie with no timetable for Logan Thompson’s return. He had a great first round with a .915 save percentage against his former team, the Jets, and he gets the chance again against another former team.

The Vegas offense was stuffed in Game 1 but was a force in the next four games scoring 18 goals with a 54.88% expected goal percentage.

They don’t have the skaters like a McDavid or Draisaitl, but this lineup runs deep, and they have four guys who scored three or more goals in the last series (Chandler Stephenson, William Karlsson, Mark Stone, Jake Eichel).

I like this to be an offensive slugfest throughout the series.
