NHL Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Saturday (3/2)
The final Saturday slate before the NHL Trade Deadline is a busy one, with 13 games on the slate for us to dissect. Iâve narrowed that down to my three favorite Same-Game Parlay (SGP) picks.
Here are my top NHL Same-Game Parlays for Saturday, March 2.
Saturdayâs Same-Game Parlay Picks & Predictions
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Florida Panthers @ Detroit Red Wings
- Leg 1: Florida ML (-162)
- Leg 2: Florida Over 3.5 Goals (-105)
- Leg 3: Sam Reinhart Anytime Goal Scorer (+120)
The Panthers are simply a wagon. While theyâre still battling the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers for the most points in the Eastern Conference, the Panthers have established themselves as the team to beat in the East.
Florida has won nine of 10 and is every bit deserving of those results. Florida is fourth in the league in expected goals-for percentage at 5-on-5 during that 9-1 stretch.
The Detroit Red Wings have also been on a bit of a hot streak, as they look to stay a neck ahead in the Eastern Conference wild card race. Detroit has gone 7-3 in their last 10, but the results and their actual performance arenât exactly lining up. Detroitâs 52.94 goals-for percentage and their 44.48 expected goals-for percentage at 5-on-5 suggest regression is coming for the red-hot Red Wings. we saw a glimpse of that in Thursdayâs 5-3 loss at home to the New York Islanders.
The Panthers are an entirely different animal and should have Sergei Bobrovsky in-net after backup Anthony Stolarz started in the teamâs shootout victory over Montreal Thursday night. Conversely, the Wings will have Alex Lyon in-net. The veteran Lyon has been pretty solid throughout the season but isnât nearly as trustworthy as âBob.â
Iâll take Florida on the moneyline, their team total over and Sam Reinhart to light the lamp again after a two-goal game against Montreal.
Total Parlay Odds: +265
Edmonton Oilers @ Seattle Kraken
- Leg 1: Oilers ML (-155)
- Leg 2: Connor McDavid Anytime Goal Scorer (+110)
- Leg 3: Warren Foegele Anytime Goal Scorer (+285)
Itâs hard to deny how good the Oilers have been recently, as they lead the league in XGF% at 5-on-5 over their last 10, but only have a 5-4-1 record to show for it.
The primary culprit for Edmontonâs lackluster record during that time - and something the team could very well address at the trade deadline - is between the pipes, where Edmonton holds an 89.24% save percentage. Thatâs the fourth-worst mark in the league over the last 10 games.
The good news is weâll see the better half of Edmontonâs goaltending tandem, Stuart Skinner, in-net Saturday afternoon. While Skinner hasnât been great this season, his play has ticked up after a disastrous start, and heâs only slightly below average regarding goals saved above expected. When youâve got the horses Edmonton has, you can get away with slightly underwhelming goaltending plenty of nights.
Seattle also has a 5-4-1 record over its last 10 games but ranks 23rd in expected goals-for percentage during that run. In other words, Seattleâs record is far more indicative of how the team has actually performed compared to Edmonton.
Seattle will likely have the goaltending advantage should Joey Daccord get the start, but the Oilers just have too much talent and are playing in much better form.
Total Parlay Odds: +800
Montreal Canadiens @ Tampa Bay Lightning
- Leg 1: Canadiens +1.5 (-120)
- Leg 2: Juraj Slafkovsky Anytime Goal Scorer (+240)
- Leg 3: Nikita Kucherov Over 1.5 Points (-110)
This was a game I did not expect to have on my Saturday dance card, but thatâs why a deeper look into the analytics can prove to be beneficial.
Did you know the Montreal Canadiens, despite a 2-7-1 record over their last 10 games, own the 11th-best XGF% in the league over that stretch? Meanwhile, the Lightning rank 18th in that same category despite being in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Granted, Iâm admittedly spooked by a Cayden Primeau vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy battle in-net. Yet, itâs worth mentioning that those two goalies actually rank 55th and 56th in goals saved above expected, indicating that this matchup between the pipes isnât as big of a disparity as you might think.
Ultimately, I think Montreal has enough to keep things close. I commend you if youâd rather boost this parlay by going with the Habs straight up. Howeverm for this parlay, Iâll recommend the spread.
Total Parlay Odds: +950
