Thursday’s NHL Best Same Game Parlays

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Nashville Predators at Los Angeles Kings

  • Leg 1: Kings -1.5 (+154)
  • Leg 2: Filip Forsberg Under 3.5 Shots On Goal (-130)
  • Leg 3: Anze Kopitar Over 0.5 Points (-150)

It’s been rough times for the Predators over the last couple of weeks as they are 4-6-1 over their previous 11 games, but they are coming off back-to-back wins. The offense has been the anchor this season with a 51% expected goals rate, but in all six recent regulation losses, they failed to score three goals. What is the most surprising is the regression of Juuse Saros; 3.02 goals allowed per game would be his worst mark as a starter, and he has a -4.8 goals saved above expected.

It might be time to put a pause on the Kings’ collapse. Todd McLellan’s firing has revitalized this team, and they’ve won six of their last seven. This great two-way team plays fast and aggressively for 60 minutes. They attack the net in the opponent’s zone and are not afraid to play the puck in their own zone; they’ve gotten that back recently.

It’s difficult not to take a team to play very well against one this hasn’t been, especially at home.

Total Parlay: +649

Florida Panthers at Carolina Hurricanes

  • Leg 1: Panthers Moneyline (-105)
  • Leg 2: Under 6 Total Goals (+100)
  • Leg 3: Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 Assists (+100)

The Panthers are red hot, winning ten of their last 11. Sergei Bobrovsky will likely command the net; the 14-year veteran and two-time Vezina Trophy winner is as good as he’s ever been by winning seven straight and allowing two or fewer goals in each. Looking at what the forwards have done recently, the team’s two-way abilities are unprecedented; in the last ten games, Matthew Tkachuk has 20 points, Carter Verhaeghe has six goals, Sam Reinhart has five, and deeper down the line, Anton Dundell also has five.

This will be a tough one against the Hurricanes, who are playing just as well by winning eight of their last ten. They are proving to be one of the tougher defenses as they lead all teams in Expected Goals Against Per 60 in all situations and the fewest shots on goal. While they don’t have one superstar playmaker on offense, they have one of the deeper rosters of talent. They have 14 players with 20 or more points and nine with double-digit goals.

It will be interesting to see if the Canes play their star rookie goalie Pyotr Kochetkov or let the veteran Spencer Martin get his third-straight start. Either way, it will be tough when Bobrovsky is on the other side, that factor should push them to a win.

Total Parlay: +681

Colorado Avalanche at Detroit Red Wings

  • Leg 1: Avalanche Moneyline (-148)
  • Leg 2: Over 6.5 Total Goals (-135)
  • Leg 3: Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 Points (-135)

Nathan MacKinnon is the current favorite to win the Hart Trophy as he’s second in both points and assists, as well as fifth in goals. The support from the players on the top lines, like Mikko Rantanen, Cale Makar, and Valeri Nichushkin, makes this team great. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev has been better recently winning three straight and allowing three or fewer goals in each, but a .899 save percentage is still tough to look at.

The 3.49 goals scored per game look great on paper for Detroit, but the deeper stats show this team isn’t as good. They have just a 48.13 Expected Goals Percentage and 2.91 Expected Goals Per 60. This trend shows they’ve been getting fortunate breaks for most of the season, and with a defense allowing 3.26 goals per game, that offense can only help so much.

This should be a higher-scoring game, but you should trust the Avs to have more firepower to win this one.

Total Parlay: +408
