Minnesota Wild at Vancouver Canucks

The Wild (43-30-7) and Canucks (37-29-13) square off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

These teams have met twice this season, with Minnesota picking up a 3-2 overtime victory on December 3rd in the Twin Cities as a moderate (-145) favorite as the under (5.5) held on. In the most recent meeting, these teams squared off March 7th in Vancouver, with the Canucks posting a 3-1 win as light favorites (-120) as the under (5.5) connected.

Despite a -13 goal differential, the Wild have managed 93 points, and they currently occupy one of the two Wild Card spots in the Western Conference. Minnesota is tied with 93 points through 80 games. It is in the playoff picture because of a tremendous ability to win on the road, going 22-13-5 away from the Twin Cities, and just 21-17-2 in 40 games at home.

The Canucks have 87 points through 79 games, but they’ve been eliminated from the playoffs, as the best they can do is 93 points, which is what Minnesota and St. Louis currently have. However, Vancouver has just 28 regulation wins, so due to tiebreakers, it is done.

Minnesota suffered a 4-2 loss at Calgary on Friday night, keeping the Flames alive in pursuit of one of the Wild Card spots. Minnesota is 2-2-2 in the past six games, and they’ve allowed three or more goals in six of the past seven outings, coughing up 29 goals (4.2 goals per game). The over is 6-2-1 in the past nine outings for the Wild.

Vancouver stunned the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena in Denver, winning 4-1 as a heavy underdog (+195) as the under (5.5) came through on Thursday night. The single goal allowed was the best performance by the defense and goaltenders since allowing just a single goal in a 3-1 win over the Wild on March 7th.  The Canucks have cashed the under at a 4-2 clip in the past six games.

We’ll back the Wild straight up, and we’ll lean to the over, based on Minnesota’s good offensive work in recent games. The Wild have 18 goals in the past five games. Again, they’ve allowed 4.2 goals per game in their past seven contests.

For player props, it’s hard to avoid two skaters to notch at least one point. Minnesota’s Mats Zuccarello has managed a goal and six points in the past five games, so he is a strong play to get to at least one point, whether it be a goal or assist. Vancouver’s Conor Garland has a goal and five points, including two power-play points, in his past four outings.

Parlay Odds: +604

St. Louis Blues at Seattle Kraken

The Blues (43-30-7) and Kraken (34-40-6) meet at Climate Pledge Arena at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

St. Louis, like Minnesota, has managed 93 points through 80 games, and it currently sits in one of the two Wild Card spots in the Western Conference. That’s rather surprising, since the team changed coaches mid-stream this season, and they turned over a lot of personnel before the trade deadline, most as a stand pat or seller.

The Blues have managed to win each of the first two meetings this season, posting a 3-2 victory as moderate underdogs (+140) in Seattle back on October 8th in the opener behind Jordan Binnington. On February 25th, the most recent encounter, the Blues routed the Kraken 7-2 as moderate favorites (-135) as the over (5.5) connected.

Zack Bolduc notched two goals in that victory, while Oskar Sundqvist was good for a goal and three points. Cam Fowler also had a goal and a pair of helpers, which was more than enough support for Binnington.

Binnington (27-22-4, 2.72 GAA, .900 SV%, three shutouts) and Joey Daccord (27-22-5, 2.69 GAA, .909 SV%, two shutouts) are the expected netminders.

We’ll play the Blues straight up, as they’re trying to close in on a Wild Card spot. St. Louis has dominated Seattle this season, and in each of the past five meetings.

For the Kraken, the under is 4-1-1 in their past six games, with the offense going for two or fewer goals in three in a row and five of the past seven outings. The Blues, though, have hit the over in three of the past four outings. However, we’ll go low on the total.

For player props, Jared McCann has been red-hot on offense, and he’ll be the biggest concern for Binnington and the Blues. He has four goals and eight points in the past five games. As an anytime goal scorer (+230), he is a strong play straight up or part of a parlay.
