NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Tuesday (2/20)

The NHL has been giving us a ton of games lately. We’ve seen a ton of parity across the league, meaning it’s been a highly enjoyable product to watch on the ice following its return from All-Star Weekend.

Last week, our first SGP fell short by one leg, as under 6.5 total goals between Ottawa and Columbus didn’t win during the Senators’ 6-3 win over Columbus. Brady Tkachuk scored a hat trick, cashing his +135 any-time goal scorer odds, while the Senators also managed to cover the puck line as favorites at +118, so those were both plus-money wagers to turn a profit if taken straight.

This week, we’re reeling it in a bit but still getting a nice +206 Same Game Parlay odds as we head south to Florida to bet on the Florida Panthers hosting the Ottawa Senators. It’s the battle of the Tkachuk brothers, who are both playing extremely well right now, despite their teams being in much different positions in the Atlantic Division. Sergei Bobrovsky is already confirmed as the Panthers’ starting goaltender, while it’s expected that Joonas Korpisalo will take the crease for Ottawa during the second game on a back-to-back after disposing of Tampa Bay 4-2 on Monday night.

Tuesday’s NHL SGP

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Florida Panthers Moneyline (-245)

Make no mistake about it, Ottawa is playing quality hockey right now. The Senators are 5-2 in their last seven games played, including their upset on the road against Tampa Bay on Monday, scoring two first period goals to gain a permanent lead. However, the Panthers are arguably the most complete team in the NHL right now, and they have two days of rest to prepare for Ottawa. Florida is riding a five-game win streak, fresh off of drubbing the Lightning 9-2 on the road. Their four previous wins resulted saw the Panthers score 17 goals, while their other four opponents only scored a combined eight goals. Plus, the Senators are 1-6 outright against Florida in their last seven matchups, while playing with minimal rest and much worse goaltending compared to Bobrovsky. There’s a reason why FanDuel is listing the Panthers at -245 moneyline odds, which we should feel very comfortable inserting as the first-leg of this Same Game Parlay.

Carter Verhaeghe Any Time Goal Scorer (+125)

The Panthers’ depth allows multiple players to generate shots on goal, but no one is hotter right now than Carter Verhaeghe. Skating on the first-line attack and top powerplay unit, Verhaeghe has scored four goals in his past two games, while taking anywhere from two to six shots on goal during most of his recent outings. Skating alongside Sam Reinhart and Aleksander Barkov certainly helps, plus, Verhaeghe also scored a goal back in November against Korpisalo in a 5-0 shutout win on the road. Only Reinhart has lower odds to score against the Senators, but he’s riding a three-game goal drought, while Verhaeghe is playing with a lot more momentum. It’s only right to use his any time goal scorer prop as the second leg, but taking this line straight is also highly recommended.

Florida Panthers Over 3.5 Total Goals (-164)

The third and final leg of this Same Game Parlay sends us to the team total goals prop, which oddsmakers have currently set to 3.5. The over is juiced at -164 odds but for good reason. The Panthers have scored four or more goals during all five of their wins on their current streak. Factor in Korpisalo, who surrendered five goals during his last appearance against Florida, along with five goals allowed against Anaheim a few days ago, and this becomes best bet territory, although -164 is a bit high for some bettors to take straight.

Same Game Parlay: +206

Our Same Game Parlay goes from +170 to +206 by adding Florida Panthers over 3.5 total goals. Yes, +899 was a lot more fun last week, but we lost. The goal is to win, so we’ve constructed a three-leg SGP with three quality wagers that have a great chance of cashing by the end of this game. A lot of trends pointed to the under, which is set to 6.5 at +106 odds, which makes sense due to Bobrovsky allowing two or fewer goals in six straight starts, the Panthers’ potency on offense is too much of a risk to take that line. Especially since Ottawa’s offense has come to life lately, scoring three or more goals against good opponents like Toronto and Tampa Bay. Goal scorers are tough to hit on, but Verhaeghe gets fed plenty of pucks in front of the net, where he can finish with the best of them. Ottawa’s porous goaltending and inability to crack Bobrovsky’s defense makes this +206 SGP a fun way to get action during a busy Tuesday night in the NHL.
