NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Tuesday (3/12)

The NHL is back with another double-digit slate of games to enjoy on Tuesday night. If you’ve been following along, we’ve been attempting to hit on a Same Game Parlay on Tuesday slates without any success in the previous four editions. That changes this week.

Last week, we looked like the curse was broken, but an offsides go-ahead goal in the final seconds of regulation cost us two of our three legs in the Same Game Parlay between Nashville vs. Montreal. As soon as overtime hit, Nick Suzuki went down the ice and netted the game-winner on Juuse Saros, crushing what would’ve been a nice +132 SGP that looked nice and sealed until heartbreak late in the contest.

I’ve decided to target one of the marquee matchups on the slate between two red-hot contenders in the Eastern Conference, as the New York Rangers travel to face the Carolina Hurricanes. Make sure to follow me @Matt_MacKay_ on X to get more free plays, NHL Prop Bets, and NHL best bets.

Tuesday’s NHL SGP

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Under 6.5 Total Goals (-154)

The last matchup between these teams saw the Hurricanes rout the Rangers 6-1 on the road in Madison Square Garden. Igor Shesterkin gave up six goals on 27 shots but he’s been much better lately, allowing one or fewer goals in five of his last seven starts. Conversely, Pyotr Kochetkov, Carolina’s goaltender, has been rock solid in between the pipes. Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his past five, with both netminders posting a shutout during this recent stretch. Plus, each of Carolina’s last ten games against Eastern Conference opponents has gone under the total goals line, which makes this a solid wager in the alternate total goals market.

New York Rangers +2.5 (-350)

The Rangers are -350 to lose by two or less, which is a safe play since pulling the goaltender down one late in games often results in that team losing by two. We avoid that bad beat in this scenario, although -350 is a lot of juice to lay by itself. The odds aren’t as lucrative with this leg, but we’re trying to win. Additionally, the Rangers haven’t lost by more than two goals since January 26 against Vegas. New York has also covered the puck line as underdogs on the second leg of a back-to-back in seven straight outings, so this is a solid wager to add.

Carolina Total Team Goals Under 3.5 (-138)

Finally, we’re getting a bit risky with Carolina going under 3.5 total team goals. Yes, they’ve scored four or more goals in four of their past five games, but we’re banking on Shesterkin to limit them with his improved play. The Hurricanes scored three at home in a 5-3 loss to Winnipeg last week, so they are capable of faltering a bit against another good opponent with a top-tier goaltender like Shesterkin. Let’s complete this Same Game Parlay wager with this team total under at -138 odds, as we saw Carolina lose 2-1 to New York earlier in the season.

Same Game Parlay: +125

At +125 odds, our Same Game Parlay is looking good. The Rangers are on short rest after beating New Jersey 3-1 at home on Monday night, but Shesterkin rested and is refreshed, which is the key to hitting on this Same Game Parlay. Carolina’s moves at the trade deadline have added a lot of depth to a team already built to contend for the Stanley Cup, however, this game projects as a defensive grind between two quality opponents. We took on a bit of risk by going with under 3.5 total team goals for Carolina at -138, the shortest odds of any leg in this SGP, but since we’re already locked in on the alternate goal total under 6.5, this made sense. Especially against Shesterkin who should be motivated to play better after the Hurricanes throttled him during their last head-to-head matchup two months ago.
