NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Tuesday (3/5)

We’re in store for a nine-game slate on Tuesday night in the NHL. Teams continue to jostle for playoff seeding as we’re now in March, with roughly seven weeks remaining until the NHL playoffs begin.

It’s been tough sledding for us lately when it comes to hitting on Same Game Parlay bets. We were one leg shy of cashing +899 odds in a three-leg SGP for the first release, but we opted to go under 6.5 total goals instead of over 6.5, during Ottawa’s 6-3 rout of Columbus, which included a Brady Tkachuk goal. We haven’t come close since, going 1 for 3 for a SGP placed on the Florida Panthers, and a rough 0-for-3 miss betting on Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia last week.

I’ve decided to dial back the approach and shake a few things up to make sure we cash our first SGP on Tuesday’s slate. Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but there’s a fantastic matchup between a team trending up versus a team trending down that should result in our first win of the season.

Tuesday’s NHL SGP

Nashville Predators Moneyline (-210)

We’re playing it safe by investing in the Nashville Predators vs. Montreal Canadiens matchup. The Predators are riding an eight-game winning streak and are amongst the hottest teams in the NHL. Meanwhile, Montreal is trending in the opposite direction, going 2-6-2 in their last ten games played while entering Tuesday’s road contest in Nashville on a two-game losing skid.

The Canadiens are 1-7 straight up in their last eight games, 0-5 in their last five road games, and 2-8 against Nashville in their last ten head-to-head matchups. The Predators’ moneyline odds are juiced at -210, however, it’s a strong play that deserves to be the first leg of this Same Game Parlay.

Nashville Predators Over 3.5 Total Goals (-122)

We’re venturing into the total team goals market for the second leg of our Same Game Parlay. Montreal has already confirmed Jake Allen will be starting in the net, who has allowed 3.69 GAA with a 5-12 record in the crease this season.

Allen didn’t play in Montreal’s last 2-1 loss to Nashville and he’s surrendered four to seven goals in three straight starts entering Tuesday night. The Predators have scored at least four goals in all eight games during their winning streak, so getting -122 odds is a solid value to acquire at this price.

Over 5.5 Alternate Total Goals (-160)

While the Canadiens may not be winning games, they have managed to score goals lately. Montreal has netted at least three goals in four consecutive games, going 1-3 during this recent stretch due primarily to bad defense and sub-par goaltending. Instead of taking the default total goals line set at 6.5, we’re playing it slightly safer and going with over 5.5 total goals in the alternate totals market.

Nashville will score at least four goals on their own, which means if Montreal continue to pour in goals on offense, hitting at least three goals in four consecutive games, over 5.5 total goals should cash by the end of the game. Whether it’s Nashville 4-2, 4-3, or 5-1, we don’t care, as long as at least six total goals are scored in this matchup.

Same Game Parlay: +132

We aren’t getting a huge number on this SGP like we’ve constructed in past editions, but laying an SGP at plus odds is still a good investment to make. In this scenario, Nashville must win outright and extend their winning streak to nine games, score four or more goals, and wind up with six total goals scored between both teams.

Montreal is the perfect target since they have plenty of offense but lack quality goaltending, which plays right into Nashville’s offensive depth. Let’s stake a unit on this +132 SGP and kick back to enjoy what should be a high-scoring affair on Tuesday night.
