NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Tuesday (4/2)

The NHL is back with an eight-game slate on Tuesday night. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are right around the corner, so teams who remain in contention are playing with an extra sense of urgency, especially those who are chasing the final two Wild Card seeds in each respective conference.

Last week, we fell short of cashing a +528 Same Game Parlay in the Nashville vs. Vegas matchup, as we opted to take under 6.5 total goals instead of over 6.5 total goals. This was the only leg that we missed, as Filip Forsberg scored a goal en route to the Predators’ remarkable 5-4 overtime win at home over the Golden Knights after rallying down 3-0.

Now, we’re heading to an Eastern Conference playoff matchup between two teams on the outside looking in, as the New Jersey Devils host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. New Jersey Devils Moneyline (-156)

The Devils own the Penguins when it comes to recent head-to-head matchups. New Jersey has won seven consecutive games against Pittsburgh, including a recent 5-2 win at home over the Penguins on March 19th. Both teams are within one point of each other, but the Washington Capitals are sitting in the final Wild Card seed with 82 points, tied with the Detroit Red Wings. The Devils are coming off of a bad 4-2 road loss to Buffalo, but they are well-rested, compared to Pittsburgh, who just beat the New York Rangers 4-2 on Monday night.

Pittsburgh has only won back-to-back games once since the end of February. Plus, the Devils have won outright seven straight times against the Penguins. With extra rest and a home-ice advantage, we’re targeting the Devils’ moneyline at -156 odds as the first leg of our Same Game Parlay ticket on Tuesday night.

Over 6.5 Total Goals (-104)

While we don’t know who will be defending the crease for both teams at the time of this article, Tristan Jarry and Jake Allen are the expected netminders for each team in this contest. Allen was a nice pick up by New Jersey at the trade deadline, going .500 with a 3-3 record in his last six starts for the Devils. This includes a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh, where he stopped 36 of 38 shots faced.

Conversely, Jarry has been a liability in the net, surrendering four to six goals in three of his past four starts. The Penguins’ defense isn’t very strong, so facing a Devils offense that averages 3.3 goals per game, 10th most in the league, we’re in store for a high-scoring affair. In fact, five of the Penguins’ last six night games against the Devils after a road win have gone over the total goals line. New Jersey has won both matchups 5-2 against Pittsburgh this season, so let’s continue investing in over 6.5 total goals as the second and final leg of this Same Game Parlay ticket.

Same Game Parlay: +203

This time, we removed an any time goal scorer, although Timo Meier was the lean if we were to add this prop to boost the odds on this Same Game Parlay. Even without Meier added, +203 odds is solid for a two-leg SGP. Pittsburgh and New Jersey are both going to be giving it their all in hopes of catching Washington and Detroit for the final Wild Card seed in the Eastern Conference, as both the Penguins and Devils are sitting at 76 and 77 points ahead of Tuesday night’s puck drop.

The Devils don’t lose to the Penguins and have three days of rest compared to the Penguins, who are on a back-to-back following a surprise road win against the New York Rangers. Jarry is a turnstyle in the crease, plus New Jersey’s offense is capable of scoring in bunches, which makes the over 6.5 total goals at -104 odds an enticing second leg of this SGP. Stake a unit on this Same Game Parlay and enjoy a matchup between two desperate Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls that should yield plenty of goals and a Devils win on Tuesday night.
