NHL Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (Hurricanes vs. Panthers)

The Panthers are just one win away from the magical run continuing and getting to the Stanley Cup Finals. Game 3 was another tight one, but we didn't get to watch extra hockey. They needed just one goal from Sam Reinhart to pull off the win. Can they get another upset and be just four wins away from a championship?

Carolina Hurricanes at Florida Panthers

    • Leg 1: Panthers Moneyline (-125)
    • Leg 2: UNDER 5.5 Total Goals (-125)
    • Leg 3: UNDER 1.5 Total First Period Goals (-115)

When you look at the underlining metrics, the  Hurricanes looked like the better offense as they held the advantage in expected goal percentage in each period and finished with a 75%-25% overall advantage and a 12-3 edge in high-danger shots.

Sergei Bobrovsky made his biggest argument for the Conn Smythe in this game. Even if the Panthers don't hoist the cup, you could argue he should become the first player since Reggie Leach in 1976 to win the award on the non-championship team. In this series, he has a .978 save percentage, 0.69 GAA, and overall 19.5 goals saved above expected. He's now contained two of the better offenses in the league (Toronto and Carolina), who both finished the regular season in the top five in expected goals for.

This is where we would talk about what adjustments the Hurricanes need to make to achieve an improbable comeback from 3-0, but honestly, there isn't an answer. Their offense has been better and holds the advantage in every category except the important one of goals scored. They are leading the playoffs in expected goal percentage and shots on goal, and they have 11 players with six or more points and 12 with multiple goals. This looks like the resume of a championship team.

The Hurricanes have their back against the walls as their season could end horribly. We can talk about how great of a two-way team they are and the depth of each line having a playmaker, but if they can't take advantage of those assets, then it doesn't matter.

It looks like this is Florida's destiny. The offense hasn't been as good as in the previous series, but Bobrovsky's run continues, and it's incredible to watch.
