NHL Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Tuesday (2/13)

The NHL is gifting us an 11-game slate to watch on Tuesday night, creating plenty of opportunities to construct a winning Same Game Parlay wager. We’re coming off of a red-hot week, going 3-0 in the NHL Best Bets piece last Thursday, so let’s keep the momentum rolling into Tuesday’s double-digit slate.

One game stands out in particular, although neither team is destined to advance to the playoffs this season. The Ottawa Senators host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, looking to avenge their 4-2 road loss in Columbus that came in early December. Both opponents are located at the bottom of their respective divisions in the Eastern Conference, jockeying for position to avoid being the worst team in terms of total points. While this game may not be appealing on the surface level, there’s a ton of value to acquire in this matchup, so let’s analyze how to construct a three-leg Same Game Parlay that will build our bankroll on Tuesday night.

Ottawa Senators Puck Line -1.5 (+118)

The Senators are riding a three-game winning streak, although two of these victories came days ago before the All-Star break. Ottawa just beat Toronto at home 5-3 on Saturday night. The Maple Leafs have plenty of flaws but their talent is undoubtedly better than the Blue Jackets roster, which has only managed to score five total goals in their last three contests. At +118 odds, Ottawa has a great chance to win by at least two goals at home against Columbus, whose goaltending has kept them from stacking more wins this season. The Senators are 24-24 on the puck line this season, so let’s risk a unit on the puck line separately, while making Senators -1.5 the first leg of our Same Game Parlay.

Under 6.5 Total Goals (+114)

It’s weird to take the under in a game where there are two underachieving goalies. Especially since Ottawa has been a part of games that go to seven total goals in three of their last four games played. Yet, trends point to the under in this matchup. The Senators have gone under the total goals line in six straight games against Columbus following a home win. Joonas Korpisalo will face his former team once again in the crease, and he’s improved marginally in between the pipes since surrendering four goals a couple of months ago. Plus, the total has gone under in all five of Columbus’ previous games against Eastern Conference opponents, including four of five against Atlantic Division opponents. Plus money is solid when it comes to taking the under in this game.

Brady Tkachuk Any Time Goal Scorer (+135)

One of the most exciting NHL betting markets has to be any time goal scorer props. Here, we’re targeting Brady Tkachuk at +135 odds. Tkachuk leads Ottawa in total goals (22) and scored a goal against Elvis Merzlikins, Columbus’ projected goaltender, during the Senators’ 4-2 road loss against the Blue Jackets earlier in the year. Tkachuk is a volume-shooter, recording three to eight shots on goal in five consecutive games, resulting in three goals scored against three different opponents. Merzlikins played well the first time, but he’s allowed three or more goals in five of his past six starts in between the pipes. We’re playing it safe here, so getting +135 odds on the Senators’ top goal scorer in a favorable matchup that he exploited before is too good to pass up for our final leg of the Same Game Parlay.

Same Game Parlay: +899

In summary, we’re betting on Ottawa to win by two or more goals, with Brady Tkachuk scoring at least once, while attempting to cash under 6.5 total goals. The Senators have won by two or more in four of their past 10 games, but the goal total has gone over in all but one of these wins, which makes this bet a bit riskier than others. Let’s risk a quarter unit at +899 odds to still get a good ROI between two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa is 5-2 straight up in their last seven games though, while Columbus is 3-8 in their past 11 contests, showing the different trajectory each team currently possesses.
