Overview

Oregon has dominated this series in recent years. They have won nine out of the last twelve games these teams have played. They have one quality win this year against Ohio State, but their schedule has been lackluster otherwise. Their lone loss comes against a 3-7 Stanford team that has gotten crushed most of the season and lost 52-7 to Utah. Oregon standout this year because of their tough defense and strong running game. They have a mobile quarterback in Anthony Brown that is completing 65% of his passes and is rushing for 551 yards this season. Oregon also has two great running backs that have big-play capability. Throw in the best defensive end in college football in Kayvon Thibodeaux, and this is a dangerous team that can control possession of the football.

Utah has come to life the last couple of games, but their defense isn't the stout defense they have been in years past. This year they are giving up twenty-one points per contest and have struggled to stop the run. Oregon St. ran for 260 yards and had an average of 6.3 yards per run. Utah has started to hit their stride on offense with the emergence of Sophomore QB Cameron Rising and Sophomore RB Tavion Thomas. Thomas sat last game and isn't 100% healthy. That means the running backs will split duties with RB TJ Pledger, who has been a decent fill-in this year. This Utah team is young, and they do not have much experience in big games. With struggling to stop the run, Utah will have issues stopping this Oregon offense.

Bottom Line

Oregon has a high value this week, and they are an underdog. This Oregon team has the veteran experience and a strong run game. They will be able to lean on this to take the win. Oregon has more on the line during this game. If they lose this game, they won't make the playoffs, and their players understand the importance of this. Oregon has more talent and will limit Utah's possessions. With Oregon's strong defense, Utah will struggle to capitalize on these opportunities. The bet is on the better team this week, Oregon winning the game.

Pick: Oregon Moneyline (+135)
