Parlay Builder Guide for Super Bowl LIX
(Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook)
Leg 1: Eagles Team Total Over 20.5 Points (-218)
Whether you think the Eagles win the game or not, they should still put up points. Philadelphia's offense is rolling after dropping 55 points in the NFC Conference Championship. The Eagles have now scored at least 22 points in 13 straight games Jalen Hurts has started.
Though the Chiefs’ defense has been elite this year, we saw some cracks last week with 29 points allowed to Buffalo in the AFC title game. The Eagles have arguably the best rushing attack in the NFL led by Saquon Barkley. Even if he gets bottled up, Hurts and the passing game is potent enough to make this a mini-shootout.
The Eagles put up 35 points against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl two years ago. Kansas City has allowed 22, 35, 31 and 20 points in its four recent Super Bowls. Since the over/under is at 48.5 with the Chiefs as only slight favorites, Philly can score its fair of share points to go over this team total.
Leg 2: Eagles +0.5 First-Half Spread (-125)
Getting out to an early lead with a strong first half has been a staple of the Eagles this season. Since their Week 5 bye, the Eagles have trailed at the half just once over the past 15 games. They also have led at halftime in all three playoff games so far.
Meanwhile, despite their three Super Bowl victories over the last half-decade, the Chiefs have gotten off to slower starts than you'd think. Kansas City hasn't held a lead going into halftime in all four recent Super Bowl appearances with Patrick Mahomes. It was trailing 10-3 last year versus San Francisco and 24-14 two years ago against Philadelphia.
Of course, the second-half comebacks are a different story. In the first half, though, the Eagles can have success on offense before Kansas City’s defense ramps up its blitzes and/or adjusts to slowing down Saquon Barkley. There's clear value in backing Philly to at least be tied at the half.
Leg 3: Dallas Goedert 40+ Receiving Yards (-232)
If you've been reading content about Super Bowl player props, Dallas Goedert's name has surely been a popular one. Well, it's for good reason. The tight end has been the Eagles' most consistent pass-catcher during the playoffs. Goedert just had 85 receiving yards in the NFC Conference Championship after going for 56 and 47 yards in the previous two games.
Goedert also has at least four catches in six of his last seven games. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith may be the headliners in Philly’s passing attack, but Goedert is a trusted target of Jalen Hurts right now. Coincidentally, that was the case in the Super Bowl two years ago when the tight end had 60 yards on six receptions against Kansas City.
This matchup is a favorable one for Goedert to put up yards. The Chiefs allowed a league-high 67.2 receiving yards per game to tight ends this season. The Chiefs allowed at least 45 receiving yards to an opposing tight end in 11 out of 16 games during the regular season (besides the meaningless Week 18 when Kansas City rested starters).
While the defense held Buffalo's tight ends in check last game, it gave up 63 yards to Houston tight end Dalton Schultz in the Divisional Round. The Eagles have designed plays with Goedert as the top receiving option, especially on run-pass options (RPOs) when Hurts keeps the ball. If the Chiefs are stacking the box to stop Barkley, it would leave Goedert in advantageous one-on-one matchups for easy completions.
Leg 4: Xavier Worthy 50+ Rushing + Receiving Yards (-281)
Xavier Worthy is the Chiefs' most explosive playmaker heading into this Super Bowl. The rookie wideout is averaging 66.3 total yards per game over the past nine contests with at least 75 combined rushing and receiving yards in four of the past five games. Worthy also has five or more catches in seven straight games with at least two rush attempts in four of the last five.
The Chiefs are looking to get Worthy the ball in space as much as possible. They have scripted plays, especially early in the game, featuring the speedster on quick passes, jet sweeps, or screens. He just went for 85 receiving yards and 16 rushing yards in the AFC Championship.
Philadelphia's defense boasts excellent outside cornerbacks and is stout against the run. However, the unit can get beat by quicker slot receivers. The Eagles will also likely key in on Travis Kelce and stop the run. Getting to 50+ total yards is something Worthy can easily do on a few touches.
Leg 5: Cooper DeJean Over 5.5 Tackles + Assists (-106)
Let's wrap up the parlay with a defensive player prop. Cooper DeJean has been a breakout player on the Philadelphia defense this season. DeJean will likely be tasked with guarding Xavier Worthy or Travis Kelce on passing downs. In either case, he should have plenty of opportunities for tackles since Worthy and Kelce are the Chiefs' top two receiving options right now.
Since DeJean started getting meaningful snaps, the rookie has five or more total tackles in seven of the last 10 games while averaging 4.7 per game in this stretch. DeJean had six total tackles in the NFC Conference Championship and five against the Rams in the Divisional Round.
