PGA Championship 2022: Brooks Koepka Betting Odds, Preview, & Prediction
This week, the second major of 2022 gets underway in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Southern Hills Country Club hosts the 104th annual PGA Championship.
Temperatures have been steamy in Tulsa, but the tournament forecast looks agreeable. Weather.com predicts a high of 89 degrees for Thursday, but temperatures are expected to top out at 82 degrees over the following three days. Other than a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Sunday, the weather is expected to be dry, making for firm, fast conditions. It will be breezy for the tournament, especially on Thursday and Friday, so we could see high scores.
Southern Hills has hosted three U.S. Opens and four PGA Championships. The most recent major to be played here was the 2007 PGA Championship. Tiger Woods finished -8 to beat Woody Austin by two shots in that event.
The course will play as a par 70 at 7,546. Three of the par-3s measure over 200 yards, with the longest topping out at 251 yards. The two par-5s play at 656 and 632 yards. Four of the par-4s are 489 yards or longer. This course is a brute.
Defending PGA champ Phil Mickelson, who topped the field at Kiawah Island last year to become the oldest player to win a major, won't be playing this week. But it's still a star-studded field, and Woods expects to play after returning to the Masters last month following a car crash in February 2021.
For those interested in betting on the tournament, we have some thoughts on the outlooks for the top players.

Brooks Koepka Course History
Given the nature of the late-moment replacement in courses (from Trump National to Southern Hills), Brooks Koepka has never competed at Southern Hills Country Club, as is the same for the vast majority of his competitors, and even if they had competed there, the course was fully redesigned in 2019, so it plays completely differently than before. The last event here was the 2007 PGA Championship, which was won by Tiger Woods.
Brooks Koepka Recent Form
If Koepka was a baseball player, he would be one of those guys who it feels like he has so much potential, but he hits a home run or strikes out each time at-bat. That is since he got hurt. Prior to getting injured, he was able to be consistently elite, and it is any day now that he just clicks it into gear and rolls again. In 2022, Koepka alternated between Top 30 finishes and missing the cut entirely in his first seven outings, before placing in the two events prior to the Master's. Oh yeah and in every single one that he placed in but the first of the year, he was in the sixteenth position or better. Very impressive stuff. The Master's was the last event that he participated in, and he didn't make the cut, so all signs point towards another amazing outing!
Brooks Koepka Masters Predictions
The Pick: Brooks Koepka to Finish Top 40 (-115) for 2 units, Top Ten (+390) for .5 units
Brooks Koepka lives for major tournaments, since 2016, he is SIXTY-FIVE shots better than the next best player, with a score of 92-under par across all major events. He is playing extremely well of late and should be poised to make a run at the top. With that being said, I was looking into Top 30 honestly, but for the price of +115, it was not worth the jump from Top 40. I would absolutely put a little bit on him to finish in the Top Ten at +390, as he played phenomenal in his two outings prior to the Master's, and he has taken some extra time to refine things and prepare for this PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Look for him to be among the leaders out of the gates, and for the odds to be just near worth taking a try on him, but with the talent in the field this year, there will be a ton of extremely talented guys in the top-five, so we can take our reduced odds on something that is exponentially more likely to hit.
