Premier League Matchday 10 Preview & Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tottenham Hotspur (-105) vs. Aston Villa (+250), DRAW (+300) | 3.5 (+110/-135

Sunday morning's two-game Premier League slate starts with a top-10 clash between Tottenham and Aston Villa. Spurs enter the weekend at eighth in the table at 4-1-4 (13 points), while the visitors are in fourth place at 5-3-1 (18 points). Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. ET from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

I think it's worth a shot on the over with a plus-money payout in this match. Starting with the Lilywhites, they've been absolutely electric offensively this season. They've scored 18 goals (3rd) and sit second in the PL in xG at 17.4. Specifically at home, they're averaging nearly 3.0 goals per game, where they've netted 11 tallies across four home competitions (2.75 GPG). Spurs have seen at least four combined goals in four out of their last eight games, which includes clearing this 3.5-goal total in three of their last four home matches.

We should see the high-scoring games continue, at least this Sunday, when Tottenham hosts another high-powered offense. Aston Villa is seventh in scoring (16 goals) and a modest 12th in xG (13.2). Four of their last six PL matches have featured at least four goals. Let's sit back and enjoy these two potent offenses - give me the over.

Bet: Over 3.5 Goals (+110)

Manchester United (+155) vs. Chelsea (+155), DRAW (+285) | 3.5 (+105/-130

The marquee match on Sunday pits Manchester United against Chelsea. There's a new man in charge of 14th-place United (3-2-4, 11 points), and it's the legendary Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutch attacker scored 95 PL goals with the Red Devils from 2001 to 2006. His United side will host Chelsea, who enters play in fifth place in the table at 5-2-2 (17 points). Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. ET from Old Trafford in Manchester.

It didn't take long for van Nistelrooy to fix United's offensive issues, as the club racked up five goals in a 5-2 Carabao Cup win over Leicester in his coaching debut. I will ride the hot hand on Sunday and lock in the over for this contest. While the offense lit it up, they still showed some defensive struggles. In the PL, the Red Devils are just 11th in goals against (11) and 14th in xGA (15.0).

Meanwhile, Chelsea continues to score goals on the domestic front, where they're second in goals scored (19) and third in xG (17.0). The Blues have scored at least twice in four of their last eight PL matches, averaging 2.4 goals per game over the stretch. I expect them to net at least two goals on Sunday, which should be enough to help us surpass this total of 3.5 goals.

Bet: Over 3.5 Goals (+105)

Fulham (+100) vs. Brentford (+245), DRAW (+270) | 2.5 (-165/+125

The matchday wraps up on Monday as Fulham hosts Brentford in an intriguing match. Fulham's a respectable 3-3-3 (12 points) out of the gate this season, which is good enough for 10th in the table. The visitors are 4-1-4 (13 points), sitting directly above the Cottagers in ninth place. This contest begins at 3:00 p.m. ET from the Craven Cottage in London.

Sticking with the trend of this article, I'm also playing the over in London on Monday. Fulham's a pretty balanced team, ranking 11th in both goals scored (12) and xG (13.8). Defensively, they're 13th in goals allowed (12) and seventh in xGA (10.5). While those numbers aren't overpowering in either direction, I like this matchup for the offenses as the Cottagers host a highly-volatile Bees side.

Brentford doesn't play much defense, as they're 17th in goals allowed (18) and 16th in xGA (15.4). However, this is still a dangerous team on the offensive side of the pitch. They've scored at least once in eight of their nine league matches this year and are averaging 2.0 goals per match (3rd). I'm unsure who wins this contest, but I think the most likely outcome is a 2-1 score. I'm fine laying the -165 price tag here, especially since we have a shaky Brentford back line taking the field. Give me the over.
