Premier League Matchday 25 Odds, Picks & Predictions (2023)

Considering that each of the 20 teams played one game last week, it was a rather typical week. The outcomes, nevertheless, were wildly atypical. Brighton failed to score despite averaging 2.3 goals per game over their previous 11 games, Manchester City drew with lowly Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth kept their first away clean sheet of the season, and Chelsea lost at home to bottom-of-the-league Southampton.

Due to the EFL Cup final, four teams are without a game this week, while four other teams have two additional midweek games. Let’s dive into two spots I’m on.

Everton (+155) vs. Aston Villa (+200)

Everton has recently started to play better following a tough start to the year, going 2-0-1 in their previous 3 matches, including an unexpected victory over first-place Arsenal on February 4th. Everton’s overall performance this season has been concerning none-the-less, coming into this one with a record of  5-6-12 overall and a goal differential of -13.

Aston Villa has lost each of its last three games, which is poorer recent form than Everton’s. But, compared to the Toffees, they are generally having a far better season, currently sitting dead middle of the table with 28 points through 23 matches.

Although Everton might have the talent edge, I expect Villa to get back on track in this one and take advantage of an Everton team that has all but mailed it in.

Pick: Aston Villa (+200)

Leicester (+370) vs. Arsenal (-145)

As they try to stave off Manchester City, Arsenal is at the heart of a competitive title chase, and every match is practically a must-win for them. On Saturday, the Gunners will undoubtedly go for all three points and be very aggressive if the score is knotted late, which is obviously good for their moneyline chances.

With a 9-1-2 record away from home this season, Arsenal leads the league in away wins, seven points better than second-best Manchester City. The Gunners have been outstanding throughout the season, especially on the road, and they are facing a substandard Leicester squad that is now in 14th place with a dismal 3-3-5 home record.

The Foxes come into this week ranked 14th on the table with just 24 points, only four points ahead of the first relegation spot.

The Gunners will aggressively pursue the full three points to increase their chances of winning the title ahead of Manchester City in their quest to establish themselves as the top team in the EPL. For me, -145 is a discount price to pay for a superior team in every sense.

Pick: Arsenal (-145)
