It’s often not wise to back a rookie quarterback making his first playoff start. It is also not wise to back him when he started the season as the third stringer, but here we are. Brock Purdy has been all San Francisco has needed and more after taking over in Week 13. Since that point the 49ers rank third in offensive DVOA, and first in pass offense. He’s played efficient mistake free football with a plethora of weapons around him.
Seattle will look to play spoilers, but a hot start by Geno Smith and the offense has cooled down in recent weeks. They rank 19th in offensive DVOA since Week 13, a stretch they went 3-3 including a home loss to these 49ers where Seattle managed just 13 points. They were just good enough to sneak into the playoffs, but they aren’t the same offensive team that got off to the hot 6-3 start.
San Francisco held Seattle to their two lowest scoring outputs of the season and with a relatively healthy lineup playing their best football, I foresee another 49ers comfortable win to start off the Wild Card Weekend.
