Seth Woolcock’s 2024 NFL Draft Prop Bet Card

From doing mocks in magazines in the mid-2000s as a kid to attending the event in 2022, little compares to the excitement surrounding the NFL Draft annually. Rookie fever reaches a pitch this week - especially with sports betting involved and most dynasty league rookie drafts right around the corner.

I myself just recently traveled south across the Maryland border to get some skin in the game. Sitting creekside, I crafted my betting card, taking advantage of discrepancies across books and the unsettlement in the markets thanks to the rumor mill churning in full force.

Odds will continue to shift until markets close. Keep your head on a swivel for any last-minute value, and in the meantime, consider my best 2024 NFL Draft prop bets.

Best 2024 NFL Draft Prop Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook unless otherwise noted)

First RB Drafted: Jonathon Brooks (+125) | 2u

You might have to wait until Friday to cash this ticket, but a win is a win. Jonathon Brooks emerged from the exhaust clouds left behind by Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. The junior rushed for 1,137 yards and 10 TDs on 187 carries, adding 25 receptions for 286 and a receiving score in 11 games. Despite tearing his ACL on Nov. 11, Brooks is the odds-on favorite to be the first running back drafted, going for as low as -150 at some books.

Brooks couldn’t test throughout the pre-draft process, but Trey Benson was really the only running back who set themselves apart from the pack. I’m hedging a bit with Benson, given that he ran a 4.39-40-yard dash and totaled a 9.77 Relative Atheltic Score (RAS). NFL scouts know what they’re getting with Benson, and that’s a fine starting quality running back. However, Brooks is a year younger and flashed more upside in 10 full games than Benson’s two full seasons as the starter at Florida State.

Bijan Robinson, Breece Hall and Najee Harris were all the odds-on favorites to be the first running backs off the board the past three years and cashed those tickets. Brooks should make it four favorites in a row, going off the board early on Day 2.

Over 6.5 WRs Drafted in Round 1 (+182) | 1u

It’d be surprising if Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze aren’t for the board in the top-10 picks. Brian Thomas Jr. should land somewhere in the teens and likely won’t get past the Jaguars at 18th overall or the Steelers at pick 20. That means we need just three more receivers to be selected in the final 12 picks of the first round.

Wide receiver is the heavy favorite to be the first position drafted by both the Bills and Chiefs late in round one. However, several other teams like Dallas, Detroit and Baltimore don’t have an above-average No. 2 WR and could benefit from the likes of Adonai Mitchell or Xavier Worthy. San Francisco is also amid a negotiation with Brandon Aiyuk and could use a first-round rookie receiver as leverage.

If just one of those other teams picks No. 24-30 bites on the other Texas receiver that the Bills don’t, we’re in business. That would leave the 49ers or Chiefs needing to select Ladd McConkey or Troy Franklin to cash this bet. At +182 odds, I’ll take my chances that the stars align and we see seven receivers off the board on Day 1.

Brock Bowers To Be a Top-10 Pick (+120 via DraftKings) | 2u

All signs point to Georgia TE Brock Bowers going to the New York Jets at No. 10 overall, including Peter Schragers’ and Bucky Brooks’ latest mock drafts. Even if something funky happened - like the Chargers trading back with the Bears to take Bowers at ninth overall, as Hoov’s Mock Draft 3.0 suggested - Bowers would still be a top-10 pick and cash this ticket.

BettingPros’ own Thor Nystrom has Bowers as his ninth player overall on his 2024 NFL Draft Big Board, while NFL Networks’ Daniel Jeremiah has him seventh. Bowers at plus-money to be a top-10 pick probably shouldn’t be a thing. But it is, so we’ll kindly invest heavily.

No. 2 Overall Pick: Jayden Daniels (-120) | 1u

Thank you to Jayden Daniels’ agent for his reaction to Washington’s Topgolf outing with a group of the top quarterback prospects. That shook up the market and allowed an opportunity to get invested in the 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner to go No. 2 overall.

There’s a chance these odds are juiced beyond the point of taking by the time the dust settles on the eve of the draft. But if they aren’t, hammer down. All signs point to Daniels coming off the board at No. 2. Kliff Kingsbury’s scheme fits his skillset. Backup QB Marcus Mariota’s playstyle also wouldn’t change the offense if Daniels got hurt.

See through the smoke and mirrors here; Daniels will be a Washington Commander.

Vikings First Position Drafted: QB (+100 via DraftKings) | 1u

Whichever way you cut the cheese, Minnesota is drafting a quarterback with their first pick. If they push their chips in and trade up, it’s likely for J.J. McCarthy or Drake Maye. If they stay put, maybe McCarthy falls to them, or he goes to New York at No. 6. If it’s the latter, would Kevin O’Connell and company really pass up taking Michael Penix Jr. at No. 11 and risk letting the Broncos or Raiders take him right after?

The Vikings’ skill players will only be in their prime for so long. The front office needs to be aggressive in hitting the reset button at the quarterback position. I’ll take even-money odds that they get the job done early on Thursday.
