South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Georgia Bulldogs Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Georgia enters this game as one of the best teams in the country. In fact, the Bulldogs are now ranked second in the latest AP poll, only trailing the reigning champion: Alabama. Georgia is getting treated accordingly by the oddsmakers, as they are favored by five scores in this SEC contest with South Carolina.

Meanwhile, South Carolina has an uphill climb in front of them. That's putting it nicely. Many pundits picked the Gamecocks to finish near the bottom of the SEC East. South Carolina beat Eastern Illinois 20-17 in Week 1, then narrowly slid past East Carolina 20-17 last Saturday. Needless to say, neither of those competitors have talent in the same stratosphere as the Georgia Bulldogs.

Let's cover all the betting angles of this Saturday evening showdown.

Overview

We will need to double-check the status of Georgia QB JT Daniels. He didn't play in the Bulldogs' last game against UAB, although that seemed more precautionary than anything. In other words, Daniels supposedly could've played if Georgia really needed him. That wasn't the case in a 56-7 rout of UAB.

South Carolina has some uncertainty at the QB position as well. Zeb Noland started the first two games for the Gamecocks, but Luke Doty is optimistic about returning to take QB1 snaps this week. We'll need to double-check how this situation plays out through the week. Whoever is calling the shots for South Carolina could have a tough time against a Georgia defense that hasn't allowed a touchdown through eight quarters of football.

Trends

  • Both of South Carolina's games have gone UNDER the total this season.
  • Georgia is 2-0 ATS & SU this season.
  • Georgia is 4-1 ATS in their last five.
  • South Carolina is 0-6 ATS in their last six SEC games.

Bottom Line

Who is playing QB for Georgia? Both JT Daniels and Stetson Bennett are on the injury report. Does it really matter who plays? Can Georgia cover this spread just by playing solid defense and running the football?

On the other side, QB Luke Doty could return. Perhaps that will help spark something on offense for South Carolina. Georgia's defense is fantastic, but should they be favored by more than 30 points when we aren't even sure if they have their top two QBs? I'll lean towards South Carolina and the points.

Pick: Lean South Carolina +30.5
