Stars vs. Golden Knights: NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks (Monday)

The Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights play Game 4 of their best-of-seven Western Conference first-round series at T-Mobile Arena in Nevada. The game can be viewed or streamed on ESPN, and the puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights seized home-ice advantage with a pair of road victories in Games 1 and 2. However, home-ice advantage has meant zilch in this series, as Dallas rallied for a 3-2 win in overtime in Game 3 to make a series of it.

These teams combined for five goals in the first period of Game 1, but in the past nine periods of hockey, including overtime in Saturday’s Game 3, which lasted 16:23, we have had just 11 goals or 1.2 goals per period. If you extrapolate that to a full game, you’re likely going to be picking the Under every time.

In addition, Vegas has two power-play goals in the first period of Game 1 while adding just two even-strength goals. In Game 2, VGK had two even-strength goals and an empty-netter by Jack Eichel. In Game 3, the Golden Knights had an even-strength goal and a shorthanded goal, also by Eichel. Vegas was just 20th in the NHL on the power play in the regular season, hitting at just a 20.2% pace while killing penalties at a 79.3% clip, 16th in the NHL.

For Dallas, it was 0-for-2 on the power play in Game 1, 1-for-1 in Game 2 on the man advantage and 0-for-2 with a shorthanded goal allowed on the power play in Game 3. If Dallas can get its acts together on the power play, it could still be in good shape in this series. The Stars hit at a 24.2% clip in the regular season on the power play, good for sixth in the NHL, while killing penalties at an 82.0% pace, good for eighth in the league.

I like the Stars’ momentum after a Game 3 win, a contest in which they were still favored on the road despite being in an 0-2 series hole. They’re slight favorites again in Game 4.

Monday's Best NHL Same Game Parlay

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Leg 1: Stars Moneyline (-118)

We’ll keep the first part of this parlay simple. The Stars are favored on the road in Game 4 despite being down 2-1 in the series. Dallas didn’t accumulate 113 points in the regular season and just miss the President’s Trophy by a single point because it is a bad hockey team. This team is for real and showed its guts in Game 3 against all odds.

The public is backing Vegas at a 2-to-1 clip, and you know what that means. Go the other way! RUN! Never side with the public, as the palatial casinos on The Strip in Las Vegas weren’t built because the public gets over on the books. It’s a good rule of thumb to always bet against Joey Public; trust me.

Leg 2: Jack Eichel 4+ Shots (-106)

If you’re a little more on the conservative side and you build a big enough parlay, you can do the Jack Eichel +3 Shots (-265) prop, but he should be able to get to four Shots On Goal (SOG). He actually went without a shot in Game 1, which is hard to believe for a player of his magnitude, although he did have a pair of assists, including a helper on the man advantage.

In Game 2, Eichel had a goal, an assist, a plus-2 rating, and, more importantly, he notched five SOG. In Game 3, he had the shorty, with a plus-1 rating, while logging six SOG. That’s 5.5 SOG per game average in the past two contests. Bank on at least four more in Game 4, as Vegas now feels a little bit of heat to get on track.

Leg 3: Jason Robertson Anytime Goal Scorer (+200)

Jason Robertson has had a very good series. The 24-year-old Northville, Mich. native seems like he has been around forever, but he is still just a kid. He has managed two goals and two assists, with at least one point in each game of the series. As an Anytime Goal Scorer (AGS), for a chance to double up, this is an essential part of your Same-Game Parlay, and it’s not a bad standalone wager, either.

Bonus Prop: Jake Oettinger Over 25.5 Saves (-102)

Jake Oettinger will face a lot of rubber in Game 4. While he was tasked with just 15 shots in Game 1, making only 11 saves, he stopped 23 shots in the Game 2 loss. He was especially busy in the overtime setback against the Golden Knights in Game 3.

Oettinger kicked aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced in Game 3. He is likely to face plenty more shots, as Vegas has a little more urgency to score in Game 4. The Golden Knights definitely don’t want to lose two in a row on home ice to give the Stars life. Vegas averaged 31.1 SOG per game during the regular season, which was 14th in the NHL. So it will squeeze off plenty of shots. This can’t be combined with the others, but use it straight up.

You can nearly multiply your initial stake by seven times for the three-leg parlay. That’s quite attractive. Obviously, it will take some doing, as we need the Stars to get the job done on the road again, and winning two in a row in Vegas is certainly no easy task. If Dallas wins, there is a good chance Robertson is behind the success, so that’s a good combination. Plus, Eichel will certainly be active on the offensive end. That’s an attractive SGP play at FanDuel. Good luck!
