Steelers vs. Ravens: NFL Sunday Night Football Same Game Parlay (Week 17)

On Sunday night, the Steelers and Ravens square off in Baltimore. This game will have major playoff implications for both teams. Baltimore has clinched a playoff spot, but has a shot at winning the AFC North with a win Sunday. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has won four of their last five games and has a shot at an AFC Wild Card spot with a win.

The Ravens are 2.5 point favorites at home, and the game’s total sits at just 35 points. This should be a tight, low-scoring game between these two rivals. I’ll be playing this three-leg parlay on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday’s game.

Steelers vs. Ravens: NFL Sunday Night Football Same Game Parlay (Week 17)

Leg 1: Steelers ML (+120)

While the Ravens come into this game with a better record, the Steelers have been playing better as of late. Pittsburgh has won four of their last five, largely on the back of their defense. They’ve allowed just 15.0 points per game over their last five games, and no team has scored more than 17 against them. Baltimore, on the other hand, has scored just 11.5 points per game over their last four games. Lamar Jackson missed most or all of those games, and will be out once again on Sunday night.

Pittsburgh’s only loss in this stretch came at home against the Ravens in Week 14. Baltimore won in Pittsburgh by two points, in a game that Kenny Pickett missed with injury. Backup QB Mitch Trubisky threw three INT’s, allowing the Ravens to come out on top despite the Steelers having more yards, more first downs, and fewer penalties.

Pickett hasn’t lit the world on fire his rookie year, but he’s played steady enough to let the defense win games. With Baltimore’s offense struggling lately and Pittsburgh’s defense playing well, I think Pickett’s return will mean this game goes better for the Steelers than the last time these two teams played.

Leg 2: UNDER 40.5 Total Points (-220)

This play goes hand in hand with the struggles I expect Baltimore’s offense to have, and the favorable matchup for the Pittsburgh defense. Tyler Huntley replaced Lamar Jackson toward the beginning of the Ravens’ Week 13 game against Denver, and has struggled since taking over. In basically four full games, Huntley has thrown for just 528 yards and one TD against two INTs. Last time these two teams played, Huntley threw for just 88 yards. It’s hard to imagine Baltimore’s offense getting much going on Sunday night.

On the other side of the ball, Pittsburgh’s offense hasn’t been explosive either. The Steelers have averaged just 18.8 points per game over their last five – a surprisingly low mark for a team that won four of those games. Baltimore’s defense is playing well lately also, allowing just 11.3 points per game over their last four.

I expect this to be a slow-paced, physical game. With both defenses playing well lately and both offenses struggling, this alternate total should hit comfortably.

Leg 3: Diontae Johnson OVER 54.5 Receiving Yards (+120)

Baltimore’s defense has been good this year, but their one weakness is defending opposing WRs. The Ravens allow 175 yards per game on 13.8 receptions per game to opposing WRs – both are bottom five marks in the NFL.

Diontae Johnson inexplicably still hasn’t scored at TD all year, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t posting great numbers. Despite inconsistent QB play this year, Johnson is on pace for 93 catches and over 900 yards this season. Johnson’s volume has really ramped up in recent weeks – he hasn’t received fewer than seven targets, or posted fewer than 49 receiving yards, in any of his last five games. Over that stretch, he has 31 catches on 44 targets for 353 receiving yards.

With Johnson’s recent production and the Ravens’ struggles against WRs, this is a nice leg to add some juice to the parlay.
