Seattle Storm vs. Washington Mystics

The Mystics are 5.5-point favorites in tonight’s matchup against the Storm. They’ve already defeated the Seattle Storm twice. But both games were close.

The Mystics earned their first win against the Storm on the road, 73-66. Meanwhile, the Mystics won the second game, 71-65, on the road. They’ll be home for their final matchup tonight against the Storm this season.

The Storm are currently on a five-game losing streak. The Storm offense hasn’t scored more than 76 points in their last three games. However, they’ve also faced New York twice and Connecticut in those three games. So that’s never easy for below-average teams.

Anyway, the Storm are scoring just 78.8 points per game and allowing over 86 points. The offense has shot under 40% from the field and relies on two players, Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor. No other player has added double-figures consistently for the Storm.

On the other hand, Washington is 10-8 on the year, but they’ve only won two of their last five games. The Mystics typically play better defense and have more depth offensively. The Storm have five players scoring in double figures, starting with Elena Delle Donne. However, Delle Donne will miss the next two weeks with an ankle injury. That’s ultimately why the line is sitting at -5.5.

Ariel Atkins will need to step up. She scored 20+ points in two of her last three games, which will be required for this one. With the way the Storm have defended, I trust Atkins and the Mystics.
