Los Angeles Chargers First TD Scorer: Austin Ekeler (RB) +210

The superstar running back has been fantastic this season, scoring 10 scrimmage touchdowns. More importantly, Ekeler has the first Los Angeles touchdown in three straight games. Furthermore, the team’s first touchdown has gone to either a running back or the fullback in 75% of the games this season. Meanwhile, the 49ers have a talented defense. However, they have given up eight rushing touchdowns this year, around the league average. With a banged-up receiving core, Ekeler should have his fourth straight game scoring the opening touchdown for the Chargers tonight.

San Francisco 49ers First TD Scorer: Brandon Aiyuk (WR) +425

While Deebo Samuel is the 49ers’ best wide receiver, Aiyuk has recently become Jimmy Garoppolo’s favorite target. The third-year receiver has a team-high four receiving touchdowns this season. Furthermore, his four touchdowns also lead the team in total scrimmage scores. More importantly, Aiyuk has scored the first San Francisco touchdown in nearly half the games this season, including two of the past three contests. Meanwhile, the Chargers have surrendered nine receiving touchdowns to wide receivers this season, the sixth-most in the NFL. While Deebo will play tonight, don’t be surprised if Garoppolo continues to feature Aiyuk early in the contest.

Anytime TD Scorer: Austin Ekeler (RB – LAC) -115

Typically I try to avoid using the same player twice in this article. However, Ekeler is the Los Angeles offense right now, with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams unable to play. After failing to find the end zone in the first three games this year, the veteran running back has at least one touchdown in five straight contests. Furthermore, Ekeler has scored two or more touchdowns in four of those contests, including three touchdowns once. At only -115, this bet is arguably stealing. Meanwhile, more aggressive bettors should consider Ekeler to score two or more touchdowns at +475. The superstar running back has found the end zone two or more times in 38.1% of his past 21 games.

Anytime TD Scorer: Christian McCaffrey (RB – SF) -195

After 4.5 years with the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey was traded to the 49ers a few weeks ago. The veteran running back played sparingly in his first game with San Francisco, earning 10 touches on 22 snaps. However, the superstar was unbelievable in his second game with the team. In the Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, McCaffrey had three total touchdowns on 27 touches and 43 snaps. He had a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown while also throwing a touchdown pass in that game. While he likely won’t have another three-touchdown performance tonight, McCaffrey will find the end zone at least once in this matchup.
