MLB Best Bets

Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are throwing in the towel. It's been a terrible season filled with higher expectations. It just didn't work out.

The White Sox will pitch Michael Kopech today. Kopech has allowed a .286 ISO and wOBA of .378 over the last month. He's allowed a .222 ISO and wOBA of .343 throughout the season.

Kopech was striking out a ridiculous rate of batters earlier this year. He's now earned 16.7% of strikeouts over the last month. He's fallen off. Meanwhile, the Guardians are getting consistent production from Steven Kwan, Andres Gimenez, Josh Naylor, and Bo Naylor. Jose Ramirez has struggled a bit against righties recently, but he's another bat that can always do some damage.

Cleveland has limited strikeouts to 22% and only has three batters striking out less than 19.5%. They'll put the ball in play and make things happen for Aaron Civale.

Civale has held teams to a .083 ISO and wOBA of .220 against his last 89 batters. He won't get high strikeouts but has kept his walks down throughout the season. He'll face a White Sox lineup that has hit a .116 ISO and wOBA of .259 against righties over the last month. This team also has six batters striking out 25.4% of the time or more against righties in the previous 30 days.

Let's take the Guardians here.

Bet: Guardians (-148)

Big 3 Best Bets

Power vs. Enemies

The Enemies are one of the more inconsistent teams in the league. Jordan Crawford has scored 100 points, and they have gotten useful minutes from Elijach Stewart, Quincy Miller, and Isaiah Austin. Yet, they have not been able to put together meaningful performances week after week. This week, they will take on Power, one of just two 4-1 teams in the league. Other than a pitiful Week 2 performance, Power has been a solid team all season. And yet, they have never really been dominant. Power is the better team in this matchup, but if the Enemies play to their potential, then they are going to be able to do enough to keep this within the point spread. They may even be able to sneak out a win.

Pick: Enemies +3.5 (-115)

TBT Best Bets

Boeheim's Army vs. Herd That

Boeheim's Army has won three straight games. However, they scored from 99 points in the first game to 83 points in the second and only 69 in the third. The offense is earning 25.3 points per game from Grant Riller, and they're also getting great minutes from Chris McCullough, Rakeem Christmas, and Jamil Wilson. They've got tons of depth and are getting solid production across the board. On the other hand, Herd That just knocked off Sideline Cancer in its most recent game. Four players earn at least 10.7 points per game, and a rotation of eight guys for Herd That. Now that we're deep into the tournament, both teams will likely play their top guys for an extended period. Both of these teams have very reliable scoring. Let's take the Over.

Pick: Over 150.5 (-115)

WNBA Best Bets

New York Liberty vs. Los Angeles Sparks

The Liberty and Sparks have played a game against one another yet. This will be the first of three meetings between the two teams.

The Liberty recently took a bad loss to Minnesota a couple of days ago, with an 88-83 defeat. However, New York has still won eight of their last ten games and has proven to be one of the best teams in the league. They've averaged nearly 89 points per game and have shot over 45% from the field behind Breanna Stewart's 23 points per game.

On the other hand, the Sparks ended an eight-game losing streak with a win over Indiana on July 25. Los Angeles again defeated on July 27 and is on a two-game winning streak. Los Angeles is playing better, but you'd have to expect the Liberty rebound from a bad loss to Minnesota earlier.

The Sparks are getting over 20 points per game from Nneka Ogwumike and 13.5 points from Jordin Canada. But they're still without Lexie Brown, who is out with an injury as the third-leading scorer for the team.

On the other hand, the Liberty just shot poorly in their last game. They hit only 36.1% from the field and went 10-for-25 from deep. Minnesota beat them on the glass and watched more shots fall throughout the game. I like the Liberty to find themselves again.

Bet: Liberty  -9 (-110)
