Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals

The Brewers are coming into the Sunday finale with the chance to pull out the brooms in St. Louis. The Brewers' bats have been flowing all season, as they are second in wOBA (.347), third in average (.270) and fourth in slugging (.434). Colin Rea gets the start, and he isn't overpowering, but he will keep you guessing, as he doesn't favor one pitch and gets his opponents to swing under the ball.

The Cardinals lineup isn't producing, as they are 26th in runs per game (3.62), and there's no power, sitting 29th in home run rate (1.8%). The pitching wasn't at its best on Saturday, but they are still coming in 10th in ERA (3.94). Sonny Gray gets the ball and is having a fantastic first season in St. Louis. Last year was his closest at a Cy Young by finishing second, but through 11 innings, he's yet to allow a run or walk; this could be the year.

Gray is the perfect pitcher to have on the mound to stop a losing streak.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Oklahoma City Thunder

The Pelicans put up an impressive performance to sink the Kings and secure the eighth seed. They'll travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder, who secured the first seed on the final day of the season. Without Zion Williamson, trying to make this a series will be a tall task. Game 1 will tell us how well they can match up with this young and talented Thunder team.

If Oklahoma City had an older roster profile, they might be considered a real favorite to win the title this year. A third-ranked offense and a fourth-ranked defense per adjusted net ratings propelled them to the top spot in the Western Conference Playoffs. They were an elite shooting team at all three levels. Their 38.8% from deep was the best clip in the NBA. Defensively, they force turnovers at the best rate in the league and hold opponents to the lowest shooting percentage around the rim. It's tough to find a weak spot in this resumé.

Looking at New Orleans' profile, you find what may be the type of team to take advantage of this matchup. The Pelicans held opponents to the second-best 3P% in the league. This wasn't a case of low volume, either. Only Chicago allowed a higher percentage of opponent field goal attempts from deep. Additionally, they're an excellent rebounding team that sits sixth in defensive rebounding rate. Their strength on the boards can exploit the one weak spot on the Thunder.

The line is mildly inflated with the Pelicans missing Williamson. New Orleans has the recipe to compete with this Thunder team even without their star. I like the Pelicans to keep this one close and maybe even pull out the upset.

Bet: Pelicans +8.5 (-110)

2024 GEICO 500

Todd Gilliland was a clear standout at the superspeedways earlier this season. The North Carolina native led 16 laps in the Daytona 500. He followed it up with a P4 starting position and 58 laps led at Atlanta. Gilliland's crew chief, Ryan Bergenty, isn't afraid to roll the dice on strategy and has given his driver good track position throughout the season.

Somehow, Gilliland is still without a T10 this season. I think that changes this week at one of his favorite tracks. His finishes in the Next-Gen era at Talladega are P12, P10, P7 and P27. I'll take the +240 odds that he splits the difference. I'm also taking a sprinkle on the 50-1 outright. If the driver of the No. 38 will ever win in the Cup Series, his best chance is here in Alabama.

Bet: Todd Gilliland Top-10 Finish (+240)
