Today's Best Bets

NBA Best Bets

Dallas Mavericks @ Indiana Pacers

No team in the NBA is hotter that's the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are winners of seven straight and traveling to Indiana on Sunday for a matchup between two of the most exciting offenses in the league.

Dallas is led by the two-headed monster of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. They've produced the sixth-ranked offense per adjusted offensive rating. They've been a top-10 shooting team and exceptional at taking care of the ball with a third-ranked turnover percentage. However, it's an improved defense that has catapulted this recent run, as Dallas has allowed just 105.4 PPG during it. They'll need every bit of this defensive prowess to slow down Indiana's potent offense.

As effective as Indiana has been on offense, their defense has been a problem, especially against top offenses. Against these other top-six adjusted offenses in the league, the Pacers have given up a putrid 128.8 PPG. If they can't slow down this Dallas attack, they'll have a tough time keeping up against a defense that is shaping into a real contender.

Pick: Mavericks -1 (-108)

NHL Best Bets

Philadelphia Flyers @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The window is closing for this era of the Penguins. Last year, they missed the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. It looks as though it could happen again, as they dropped down in the standings and are 5-6-4 in their last 15. Even with their offensive stars, they're scoring under three goals per game, and they recently lost Jake Guentzel, who is second on the team in both points and goals.

The Flyers have the same goals scored and are slightly worse in goals allowed, but they have more points and a playoff spot. Still, they have been streaky the last month and need that defense to step up because they're beginning to allow high-danger opportunities to their opponents.

Both teams are struggling with their records, but the Penguins are the better-looking team right now. The Flyers are beginning to lose their defensive edge and will start a backup on the road. This large overall moneyline doesn't have the juice, but the 60-minute line works.

Pick: Penguins 60-Minute Moneyline (-105)

NASCAR Best Bets

2024 Ambetter Health 400

DraftKings Sportsbook's odds for a Kyle Busch T10 are all the way down to -225. In that case, I'm hammering it at plus money (shoutout to BetRivers).

The only word you can describe the driver of the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) No. 8 Chevrolet in the 500 is "relentless." No matter what unfortunate circumstances were thrown at him, he made his back up to the front. In fact, Busch was No. 2 in pass differential (+36), second in average running position (10.6), eighth in laps led (six) and - most importantly - No. 1 in driver rating.

Busch is a lowkey good plate racer in the Next Gen era, fishing with a T10 in five of nine races. He hasn't necessarily ever had great speed at Atlanta since its reconfiguration, but he's found it late and finished fifth and 10th, respectively, in his two starts there with RCR.

I like "Rowdy" in this placement market as a hedge for the 16-1 outright I'm down on.

Top 10: Kyle Busch (+115) | 1.5u
