Detroit Pistons @ Orlando Magic

It has been a season to forget in Detroit. However, they've been a much more competitive team since the trade deadline. Going 5-11 SU and 10-6 ATS records over the last 16 games have them looking to finish the season strong. They'll match up with a surging Orlando team that they're familiar with over the last few weeks.

These two teams have matched up twice in the last month, with Orlando winning both games but splitting 1-1 ATS, needing some late-game heroics to win last Saturday. A much improved Detroit offense has led the way the last few weeks on this run. Cade Cunningham is coming into his own, as he's led the NBA in 3P% since the All-Star Break. However, they will have their hands full against this strong Orlando defense that is holding opponents to 102.5 PPG over their last six games.

As great as the Orlando defense has been this season, the offense ranks 23rd in offensive rating, only two spots ahead of Detroit. I can't trust a team that turns the ball over as much as Orlando does to win by double digits or more. This is an ugly pick to round out the Sunday card, but I'm holding my nose and taking the Pistons.

Pick: Pistons +10.5 (-110)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Edmonton Oilers

As the trade deadline approaches, you wonder what the fate of the Penguins will be. Their longtime core players are getting old, but they're still effective. However, the depth has not come through. It doesn't help that some of the key players like Jake Guentzel, who many believe could be traded, is on the IR, along with Bryan Rust.

The Oilers are coming into this game with three straight wins, the most since their 16-game streak. The offense has been solid through that run, with nine total goals, but Stuart Skinner has been phenomenal, winning three straight with a .949 save percentage. Stuart went on Saturday so it will be Calvin Pickard in the cage. He's been a great backup with 2.53 goals allowed per game in 11 appearances.

A healthy Edmonton offense will be too difficult for a depleted and already below-average Pittsburgh offense to keep up with.

Pick: Oilers 60-Minute Moneyline (-125)

2024 Pennzoil 400

We successfully faded Austin Cindric in a matchup against the race-winning Suarez last week, but the No. 2 car still had speed, finishing fourth. While I'm not sure if it's truly a sign of things to come for the now third-year Cup Series veteran, I'll ride with him at least through Vegas. Cindric finished sixth in this race last year and is fourth all-time in starting position here (8.25).

Vibes are high in the Team Penske No. 2 camp right now, and he's up against three teams in this group where theirs are OK at best. John Hunter Nemechek is just returning to the Cup Series after a three-year hiatus and probably has a ways to go before he's comeptive at the mile-and-a-halfs. Josh Berry is a true rookie but finished 29th here in the No. 9 car last year while filling in for Chase Elliott. I'll disqualify both of them right off the bat.

Austin Dillon is the only other real threat in this group, and at nearly 2-1 odds, I'll take my chances. Dillon's season is off to a rocky start, not qualifying for the Busch Light Clash and then finishing 37th in the Daytona 500 and 22nd last week at Atlanta. Though some believe Vegas could be a turning point for the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) driver, I think - at best - we get something between his 18th and 27th-place finishes here from a year ago.

Bet: Austin Cindric To Win Group H (+195

vs. Austin Dillon (+200), John-Hunter Nemechek (+250) & Josh Berry (+300)
