Thursday Night Football Odds, Picks & Predictions: 49ers vs. Seahawks (Week 15)

On Thursday Night Football in Week 15, the San Francisco 49ers (9-4) and Seattle Seahawks (7-6) square off. At 8:15 p.m. ET as Lumen Field Seattle will play host.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were trounced by San Francisco 35-7 on Sunday, as the victory was the 49ers’ sixth consecutive win both straight up and against the spread (ATS). It’s also worth mentioning, that in 3 of its last 4 games, San Francisco has scored 33 or more points.

Despite being 3.5 point favorites over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the Seahawks fell short and suffered their fourth straight ATS loss, losing 30-24. Seattle has now tallied fewer than 300 yards in 3 of their last 6 games after being limited to 287 total yards on Sunday.

Let’s take a closer look at how this one might play out.

NFL Week 15 Thursday Night Football Odds, Picks & Predictions (49ers vs. Seahawks)

Details

  • Opening Line: Seahawks +3.5 | O/U 43.5
  • Current Line: Seahawks +3 | O/U 43.5
  • Last meeting: September 18, 2022 – Seattle 7, San Francisco 27

Overview

Brock Purdy won his first NFL start, but he wasn’t completely unscathed. In Sunday’s 35-7 victory against Tampa Bay, the rookie quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers sustained rib and oblique injuries, but he’s expected to be fine for Thursday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

With a victory over the Seahawks, who are in second place and leading the NFC West (9-4), the 49ers may claim the division title (7-6). Purdy was hurt on a scramble on the second drive of last Sunday’s victory over the visiting Buccaneers. Purdy was chosen with the last overall choice in this year’s NFL draft, earning him the moniker “Mr. Irrelevant.”

Although it is anticipated that Purdy, who is technically classified as questionable, will start, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan indicated he will wait until Thursday to make the announcement.

Seattle is undoubtedly a challenging location for a rookie making his first road start. One of the loudest stadiums in the league is Lumen Field. Purdy will also be without his top weapon in Deebo Samuel, who won’t be available because he’ll be out for at least three weeks due to knee and ankle issues.

The Seahawks have dropped three of their last four games, blowing a two-game division lead. They have lost their last two home games, 40-34 in overtime to Las Vegas and 30-24 to Carolina on Sunday. Geno Smith, a top candidate for the league’s comeback player of the year, tossed two picks against the Panthers, something he had not done all season.

Due to ankle injuries, both running backs Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas were forced to miss last weekend’s contest. Walker’s status is good to go since he was labeled as a full participant on Wednesday and does not have an injury notation.

Bottom Line

At their Week 2 matchup in Santa Clara, California, the Seahawks defeated the 49ers 27-7 with the help of Jimmy Garoppolo, who came off the bench to replace an injured Trey Lance. I like for the Seahawks to get their revenge in this one and ruin the Purdy-parade.

Pick: Seahawks +3
